By the way, REAL Jehovah's Witnesses do not have discussion boards. They depend on the official site only, www.watchtower.org. You will find the answer to a lot of your questions, at source, from there.
- what is the JW view on the state of the dead - they are dead. Until resurrected/reconstituted from God's memory.
- how do you view hell - JW's don't believe people are sent to hell. They go to Kingdom Hall meetings instead.
- how is baptism seen and what role does it fulfil - Baptism seals a member in to the organization, and is a very serious step. A baptised publisher has the hope of surviving Armageddon. The unbaptised do not have that same hope. A baptised member can be disfellowshipped if he/she does wrong and is unrepentant, and unbaptised member cannot be disfellowshipped, only informally shunned.
- how does one repent and to whom do they confess - the repentance procedure in use by the evangelical churches is alien to the watchtower society. See point seven. Baptised members who are burdened with a sin they are struggling with are encouraged to confess to the elders, who will counsel them from the bible and provide direction on how to overcome their error. If the person is not able to overcome a serious sin, they may be disfellowshipped.
- how does one receive forgiveness and from whom see point seven.
- is salvation by grace or good works - is it received by faith - salvation is an undeserved kindness (grace is a word from Christendom and is not used by the Jehovah's Witnesses) bestowed by Jehovah on mankind, who gratefully maintain their salvation by good works.
- how does one become a Christian - two years of study, baptism, regular meeting attendance, more study, and field service.
- how do JW's view the gospel - "Gospel" is another made-up Christendom word alien to Jehovah's Witnesses. Do you mean the message that Jesus died for our sins so that we can have eternal life? Yes, the Jehovah's Witnesses believe this with a provisio. Baptised members must also keep up with study, regular meeting attendance, and field service.
- how is one saved - See point seven.
- do the JW's believe once saved always saved - if not what is your understanding "Saved" is another made-up Christendom word. Jehovah's Witnesses work out their salvation with "fear and trembling", which includes regular meeting attendance, study, and field service.
- can you be saved and not be a JW - "saved" as in having a chance at Paradise Earth? Everyone who dies before Armageddon will also have a chance to participate in eternal life on Paradise Earth. Jehovah will resurrect them in his due time, and they will be introduced to the correct teaching. After they gladly accept the Truth, they also will be accepted as full members of Jehovah's Paradise.
- is salvation through the free gift of grace of god which can never be earned - I would re-word these questions if you ever talk to a real live Jehovah's Witness. Replace grace with "undeserved kindness". Be clear by what you mean by "saved". Didn't we cover this under points seven and eleven already?
- how do you know that you are saved, how do you know you have assurance in your salvation - No Jehovah's Witness is ever completely sure.
- what did Jesus achieve during his ministry on this world - see answer fifteen.
- what did Jesus achieve at the cross - it was not a cross, silly, it was a stake. He died for our sins, forever wiping the original stain of sin originating from Adam, for those deserving meek ones who accept the true message.
- who is Jesus if he is not god and part of the trinity - oooooh, another baaaaad Christendom word, trinity, from pagan origins! Jesus is a god, the son of God, Jehovah, and sitting at His right hand.
- do you practice the lords supper and and foot washing in memorial to what Jesus did - if not why not - Jehovah's Witnesses honor the memorial of Jesus' death once a year. The anointed partake of the emblems. I have never seen a foot washing ceremony, though there are regular stadium-washing ceremonies, conducted with great vigour.
- what are the key salvational doctrines of the JW's There are too many to name. The Jehovah's Witnesses have no core set of doctrines such as the Nicene Creed. A Jehovah's Witness can be disciplined, even removed, for refusing to follow any doctrine of the Watchtower Society. The most sure way to salvation is to follow all the precepts of the society, never take blood, regular meeting attendance, study, and field service.
- if Jesus is not god and he died for our sins - how can our sins be forgiven if he is only an angel a created being - Through one man sin entered the world, so through one man all is forgiven. Jesus is a perfect creation of God, a perfect sacrifice.
- do you believe in satan and how is sin and temptation conquered - Hoo, yeah, JW's believe in Satan. He was cast down from Heaven to torment Jehovah's Witnesses since 1914. JW's would secretly believe Satan helped you author these questions. Sin and temptation is conquered by hard work, study, meeting attendance, and field service.
