Lafayette is 130 miles from here. It should be fine. Actually Evelyne's entire office is trying to relocate to the same place. Everything is coordinated from the main office in San Fran.

Glad to hear that ya'll are getting out of New Orleans before it gets too bad down that way. We live right off of Hwy, 371 and it is a hurricane escape route. We are like four hours north of N O , but I imagine we will get rain and wind from this.

If Layfette is all booked up , no rooms, maybe some can try Alexandria or even make a road trip to Shreveport, at least they would have something to do,,,,Gambling on the Riverboats, there are plenty of rooms here.

Ya'll stay safe and keep us posted on how ya'll are and the hurricane. Take Evelyne out to eat and order her a "hurricane" mixed drink,, cajun folks are always celebrating something,,,,,,I hear they really do have Hurricane parties down there.

    Jeremiah 30:23-24

Behold, the wirlwind of the LORD

    Goes forth with fury,

    A continuing whirlwind;

It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.

The fierce anger of the LORD will not

return until He has done it,

And until He has performed the intents of His heart.

In the latter days you will consider it.

    Matthew 24:16

"then let those who are in Judea flee to the MOUNTAINS

    VS 25

"See, I have told you beforehand.

    Please, be very safe.

To those going to Lafayette, have a safe trip. If you see a sign indicating Breaux Bridge (the Crawfish Capital of the World), near Lafayette, just note that's where I was born. And if you see another pointing to Carencro, that's where I grew up and graduated. I worked at Acadian Village in Lafayette as a tour guide before I came to Tallahassee in 1989. I still have cousins and friends who live in the area. My sister and a niece and nephew, however, live in Plaquemine, 20 miles south of Baton Rouge. Another niece and her family live in Prairieville. So, all you Louisianians I do hope you all fare well.

    Wow!

Five and a half hours to travel 130 miles!

We finally made it into Lafayette at 7:30 last night. Traffic was unbelievable. This is not my first evac but definitely is the worst.

They said on the news this morning that if New Orleans was hit right on, the city would fill with water, and would take 6 months to pump the water out. They already have the biggest pumps in the nation I believe.

Anyway, looks like the weather will not be too bad here in Lafayette.

Everyone in the storm area, please be safe.

Yeah I heard that about the city. Is there anything that can done in the future to help keep the city from being flooded or is this just a luck of the draw type thing?

    Glad you guys are safe.
