Do you remember when you first Googled "Jehovah's Witnesses"?

    Segz- WELCOME!

It's only natural to feel like that at first. We've all been there, so we all understand what you're going through. I chose to hang around this site in particular because people here were generally happy and well-adjusted (and very friendly). I hope you'll have a similar, good, experience.

Next time you want to come into chat, if I'm there, I'll say hi to you. =)

Thankyou. It's good to know there are decent people out there that are willing to help you through, one of the hardest decisions, i think, i've had to make in my entire life!!

    Thanx again

segz - hang in there and it takes some time to clear your mind of the fog. We believe so long that the FDS have "special knowledge" and that you can't have a relationship with God without them between you and Him that it takes months to "rethink" things without the flood of loaded words from the WT. "Faithful Christians will not believe the words of the wolves on the internet, instead faithful true Christians will stay close to the "faithful word" that they have heard from God's chosen organization as presented through his "faithful and discreet slave." Geez. After hearing that for a while you become the......

    Manchurian Christian.

I do not remember the _exact_ date... but it was around the end of 2001. I just typed 'Jehovah Witness' into Google... and got quite a number of hits.

(I may have done it as a result of someone else in a different country telling me that there were lots sites out there on JWs.)

Anyway - regardless... the first site that I visited was not this one - but one run by a fella named Timothy. He has moved and changed his site's look a few times since then.

I started reading about the others, and their experiences that they had, and I thought... "Wow! I thought I was the only one who felt that way!"

It was good to know that I was not alone. Others had similar experiences. I began to type my thoughts - and share with others, and go into the chat room that existed - and 'met' others like myself.

It has been a long time ago.A lot has happened since that time.

    Regards,

    Jim TX

I was at work and felt as if I were eating the fabled forbidden fruit by typing in JWs in the search! I was truly ambivalent: determined to find out, but repelled because of endoctrination.

Segz, I'm so glad you're deciding to be an informed person! The feelings of fear go pretty fast after finding out a lot about the JW history, etc. If you haven't read on the "Links" and "Best Of" sections of this board, I'd strongly recommend it! There's a wealth of information there.

There really is freedom of information on the net. Had it been around in the 70s, I doubt they'd have near the membership. I probably wouldn't have joined had I had access to "the other side."

    Hugs,

    Pat

It was 6 months ago and my husband had just shown me how to turn the computer on and how to go on the net.

The first thing I did, inocently was type "Jehovah`s Witnes" .

I think i went on the macgregor ministies first, after I heard what E JW were saying that was the begining of the end. Then I came on here and after only a few hours, that was it, after 20 years!!!!!!!!

Yes, it lead me to this site and I registered and made my first post and a fellow by the name of Funchback gave me a wee bit of a hard time.

Check back to my first post and you'll see.

Huh? I checked all of your Topics and I don't see where I even replied to any of your Posts. You must have me mistaken for some other handsome guy!

1999.. about 3-6 months before that Nov KM..

I was alone, my son who lived with me was at his dads..........

and I was lonely.. and had had a few drinks (thus guts to do a search)..

only I did Jehovahs Witnesses Personals or Dating in my YAHOO search..

and I found H2o.. and also Witnet..

it was a long time before I would read the threads to give me doubts though.. I stuck to the fluff or looking for men stuff .. moved from there to pro JW boards.

didn't read stuff to give me real freedom till I joined here last year

It was my first post and you commented on it a few posts later. And I replied to you. I think I looked like some troll or something to you.
