Where the hell were you when I was growing up???!! How I wish I would have had a father like you!! My father passed away when I was a baby and I was raised by a single mother who wasn't quite all there and the JW's only made that situation worse. I can't count how many times I was told I would be a JW or she would kill me as she was beating the living daylights out of me for something I did not do. I was repeatedly told how kids were stoned to death in the bible and that if we were living in bible times I would already be dead. Within the congregaion was no better as I had no father and I was one of the girls all the boys paid attention to, so I must be evil. The mental and physical abuse I suffered was more than most could have survived. It has taken years for me to realize that I am an adult and I am not a JW and I AM STILL ALIVE!!! Mental issues run in my family as well and if I had gotten therapy early in life a lot of pain could have been avoided or at least understood. I understand very much what you are dealing with....with your daughters, as I have dealt with the attempted suicide and hospitalization issues as well with my son. Take my word, what you are doing for your daughters is tremendous! Getting them the help that they need now will set the course for the rest of their lives. You and Mary will become the strength and rock for them from now on and this will last into their adult lives. It is a hard row to hoe right now but the pay off will be amazing for you and Mary. I don't know that I am religious anymore (spiritual but that is a different subject!), but if there is a God he sure must be very proud of you right now! Bless you, Mary and your girls!!

P.S. I know it will be tough but hold that temper in check during the therapy sessions, it sounds like the ex and her hubby will be the ones to blow and will only dig themselves into a deaper hole with the court.

Manicmama, you and I are kindred spirits. I had the same lame upbringing, fatherless boy and all. Watching my children go through it brought it all back to me and I was determined to open the door for them to exit the Fanatical Mansion.

Well, the order stipulates that I can either talk to Sara in person or by phone to discuss visitation arrangements with the children. So the order is not absolute, and there are some other interesting loopholes in the order as well. We can also be in the same room together in theraputic settings. If I should encounter them while at the mall or something like that, I have to leave asap to keep from being in violation of the order.
