St John's wort is accepted by the medical literature for use in mild to moderate depression.

If anybody is using it could you share your experiences with it?

I used it once but couldn't tell the difference. Are you using a tincture or a capsule?

Some people are allergic to it. It's related to ragweed, I believe. Might be a concern if you have allergies.

Blueberry juice is good but it cost about $5 a quart/litter take it regularly. I've been using it seems to help get out of thought loops which happens with depression.

Are you sure you have mild depression?

I treated lots of folks in the psych hospital whose illness was greatly worsened after taking St. John's Wort. They probably would never have required hospitalization had they not taken it.

Not sure if its mild depression. I believe I have "situational" depression. Once the negative situation lifts so does my mood.

    Hi wannaexit,

There is a lot of new research about upping our intake of Vitamin D in helping depression. Most people have very low levels when tested.

The best way is 20 minutes of sun each day. Your body will metabolize what it needs from the exposure. The sunlight entering the retina helps improve mood also.

If you live in an area where you cannot get sun each day you can take Vit D3 capsules and still get a great amount of benefit.

That's what I've also heard. If you use the capsule you might want to open it up and pour the powder in some hot tea. That should spread the powder thoroughly throughout your digestive tract. Do it on an empty stomach so it can get in your blood system faster.

If one brand or form of Saint John's wort has no effect try another one. Try the tincture first.
