My parents were never really up to date on the latest WT videos. The only ones I saw while I was in the org were "Organization Behind The Name" and "Purple Triangle". I saw the "YPA: How Can I Make Real Friends" after I left.

Nice personal attack there hippie. You talk as though you have first hand knowledge about the subject of which types of brainwashing movies WT makes for children and which ones they do not. My children experienced what I spoke of in my post. They have been put in my care by children's aid (for other abuse) and they have very good recollections of when they were younger and being forced to watch this movie. While this was happening (that they were brought to an elders house and forced to view this children's movie), it was being documented that the experience was having a terrifying effect on them by their therapist. Since then, I have also spoken with others who have been involved in serious custody battles with the JWs who have had similar experiences in the early nineties.
I can understand that you might find it hard to believe that the WT could resort to something like this (and inspite of what you are reading in this thread about other movies WT makes for youths) but that does not justify your harsh personal comment.
I remember this video. There may still be a copy in my Mom's theocratic library?.
I was still a JW when I saw it, and it upset me. I wouldn't show it to a child even once, let alone repeatedly as the society suggests.
To call a video like this "wonderful" shows exactly what JWs think of non-witnesses. So much for 'love of neighbor'. They are brainwashed into thinking that the butchering of non believers is a good thing.

It's really not a significant departure from anything they've done before. Just the same old "SUBMIT TO THE FDS AND DON'T LISTEN TO OPPOSERS? AND APOSTATES? OR YOU'LL DIE!!!!" message, using a gruesome account from the OT to serve as a Warning Example? to show why this is so. What got me about it was the lack of subtlety, the whole thing had such a shrill, desperate tone about it.
My contempt and resentment towards the Brooklyn borg went from about a 3 to an 8 on a scale of 10 in just 1 hour. LOL

Yikes! Applying the killing of the Israelite man and pagan woman to how Jehovah views marriage between a JW and a non-JW is a pure distortion of what this account really shows. The Israelite man and the pagan woman were not married and what was taking place was a very blatant disregard for God's law against fornication. This is another example of a knowing misapplication of scripture. SHAME ON THEM!

This whole story about the Midianites is completely preposterous. Here is an excerpt from a book written by a very wise man (me):
The Midianites engaged in a great sin. They allowed some of the Israelites to have sex with them. As a result, they had to be punished.
Moses, the meekest of all men, issued the order to kill all of the Midianites. Numbers 31:7 tells us that the obedient Israelites ?slew every male.? When Moses found out about this, he was furious, and rightly so, because the Israelites had let the women and evil children live. What follows next is one of the most bloodthirsty genocides recorded in the Bible. This meek man issues the command (vs 17) to ?kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.? Mercifully, though, he decrees that the young girls could just be raped. Verse 18 says ?But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.? All together, 32,000 virgins are taken as ?booty? (vs 35).
As an aside, it should be mentioned that the Midianites were being punished for fornication. Part of the remedy for that great sin is to take 32,000 young virgins as booty. Does anyone see a bit of a double standard, here?
I suppose I could pause for a moment and comment on the development of the modern expression ?booty?, but that hardly seems necessary.
