isn't it connected with the parable of the talents? so when jesus returns, they can say 'here, look at how much money we made for you!'

either that or its going into the coffers of the illuminati.

WHY DOES THE WTBS HOARD CASH

For the same reason they put 30-Year roofs on the Kingdom Halls... they don't really believe that the end is "soon".

Sure, they will tell YOU not to go to college or save for retirement... but you better believe that the boys in Brooklyn are!

One thing I could never understand was: If we believe the GB

are the "ones" chosen by GOD, then why are they not the officers

of the organization? These guys are diffrent, have been diffrent for the longest

I can remeber? Who are these guys? and are they getting salaries for running this

organization? (non profit organization can have paid officers)

Sorry guys,, but holding a large sum of cash is just smart.. Yeah I know they preach the end of the world, and they are gods chosen people, but they know better.. If they are truly gods chosen people then they don?t need the money, because like the Jew?s nothing bad will ever happen to them. But really, having money, and good credit is smart, and I cant fault any business for doing that..

Good point 13g-however when the org. preaches that members shouldn't worry about their financial futures e.g. don't go to college, don't worry about retirements etc., it's just plain hypocritical.

Of course being cash rich is preferable if your a profit generating business. It allows you to weather downturns in the economy. It allows you to make coslty aquisitions like swallowing your competitor. It allows you to avoid issuing debt or diluting the holdings by selling off equity. Problem is we are not talking about a profit making corporation. We are talking about a publishing company who has been claiming that they are God's earthly organization announcing the end of the world. They likely have enough cash to continue, just as they are, distributing literature monthly for the next 30 years without having to ask their members for more cash. So why do they. Maybe it is smart business (or smart cult business) but it sure isn't the act of a religion who claims the world is about to end. In fact, for some who are not experienced with financial matters, holding too much cash can signal a major problem for business. It's true that being cash rich is good especially if you are a Bio-tech company which can spend millions upon millions of dollars over two decades developing a drug before it can go to market. Even most (if not all) Bio-techs don't hold enough to cover a 30 year burn rate. Holding too much cash means the corporation is not employing the money for growth as it should be. That is bad business and any CEO will tell you that. Growth is optimal and proper employment of cash resources is necessary for growth. Holding (what I estimate as) 30 years of cash burn is not only ridiculous, it's highly suspicious even in a normal profit generating business. To me, it proves conclusively that they are not willing to put their money where their prophecizing mouth is. To me, it's proof that they KNOW that their story is a big lie.

I think you have got the Org all wrong..

The Society, Is a business. They sell the customer a life style.. They have product differentiation from other business that sell the same product. IE Jw?s don?t have a cross. They don?t celebrate holidays.

The product that they sell is the security you feel, by belonging to the only true religion, they also provide the customer with endless meaningless test?s of faith. It makes the customer feel good to know they have passed the test. The customer also gets a feeling of loss by seeing, and losing people who did not pass the endless test?s of faith. Like a soldier who loses his buddy in battle, it is painful, but makes him more determined to fight harder, and soldier on.

This is the product that all religions sell, in one form or another is just a life style, And like any other form of business they deserve to get paid.

Are they hypocritical? HELL YES, But that?s all part of the business.. What religion isn?t full of hypocrites? What religion clams to be a For-profit business? What is sad, is that this form of big business has so much influence on how people think, and view each other. What is sad, is that this form of business is legal

I don't think I have the Org. all wrong at all. That much cash is ridiculous given they claim the world is going to end and given their constant criticisms of the world and all of it's ills. Yes other religions may have alot of cash but this one claims the world is going to end any day. It makes no sense to continue collecting contributions from their sheep who could live their last days more comfortably. It makes no sense unless they know it's a big lie.

Another good point from Happy Guy : )--- How does the WTBTS hope to convince countries they plan to expand opperations in that they are indeed a not for profit organization ? They had this problem in france , the french demand that they pay taxes but the WTBTS is fighting this in court . Why not just pay the tax and be done with it ? Not all countries have tax exempt for all religions like the USA . The Jehovahs Witnesses are considered a cult in many countries and are not going to get their way when it comes to disguising the not for profit when in fact they only care about the profit . I think every other religion has tax collected when publications are bought and sold in the US even . They can cry discrimination and persecution all they want and spend untold amount of money in a court room but if they just paid the friggen tax in the first place the problem is solved . They are a friggen joke ..........
