just had our CO visit this past week. He on Tues. stressed...umm not sure can't remember......on Thurs was the big push on meeting attendanceand went over cong. numbers in our hall, all were basically down. He stressed the need for meeting attendance, and even how bros. quit jobs that didn't allow themto attend all 5 meetings. Then his "piece de Risistance' (lol) Illustration to drive point home....you guessed it how we have 5 fingers....could we afford to lose one if so which one....Boring........Sunday definitely mentioned 3 important things 1. bible Reading 2. Matt 24:45-47 FDS Pay Attention to them and the GB!!!!, yes he used terms to describe them.. "Organization", "The Society","Slave" ..so yes they still use these terms.
I have noticed a trend tho with CO's they are not liked they used to be..(i.e Bro Hardesty(er Bro "Hard n Nasty") or Bro Woods..CO's from the 80s))

    just my 2 cents

This is not meant to offend any who attend to "keep the peace", but why not stay home when the co, do or whoever visits? let them preach their bullshit to the hardcore dubs and no one else. How would the co feel if the only crowd he attracted during his visit were the truly braindead or totally unprincipaled who are still hardcore? also all the boot-lickers who get to show off during his visit(i have to attend the servants meeting thurs. evening; or read during bookstudy)would only be showing off to others who are like unminded.

OB, I think you hit the nail on the head w this post, epecially at the end when you pointed out that many no longer believe that the JW faith is "the truth", but they attend some meetings so that they do not lose family/friends.

What about the poor CO's, DO's and Bethelites that have spent their whole life in the full time work only to find out that it's not the truth. Where do they go? They have no choice but to keep pretending. Also, those that had to leave the road due to health reasons, what are they to do? They almost have to keep putting on a front since the Org does take care of them financially. The only way they could walk away is if they had wealthy family members willing to take care of them. It's really sad. At least I'm relatively young enough and have never devoted myself to the full time work.

OB, I think the Governing Body's attitude toward people who have come into contact with "Apostates" is much like the way the Europeans have done the diseased cow's.....just kill'em all! They don't want to keep people in who know too much...it's dangerous...they might infect the others!

    Hello orangeblossom,

Thanks for the topic. I do find very interesting:

"The society is very concerned about the number missing from the meetings. In fact, our CO said that in our circuit, there is an average of 2 to 10 publishers that have "left the truth" each time he goes back to a congregation. He visits approximately 20 congregations twice a year, so a minimum of 2(pubs) times 20 (congs) times 2 (visits per year) adds up to approximately anywhere from 80 (minimum) to 200 (maximum) people leaving the borg a year in our circuit alone. "

    and
    3) His final talk was geared toward those in the congregation called "passive attenders" and how if they had ANY doubts in their minds that this was not God's organization, they had better do whatever it takes to prove to themselves that Jehovah is using the FDS as his channel…"

    To Peterstride:

"If the WTS had the truth and nothing but the truth, they wouldn't be afraid of others reading whatever material they wanted to read, since they would see right through it, and prove in their minds that the WTS was the truth.

But the moment any religious cult orders its members not to read anything that contradicts them, warning bells should be going off."

    Good points.

I wonder what they will come up with!

To Ozziepost: a very nice comment…on tha WTS policy!

God, is 'HardNasty' still a CO?

At one point, I think even the Society responded favorably
to written complaints about that guy - and you know what their
standards are! (Elders/COs can do no wrong)

Hello OrangeBlossom, and thanks for the report.

"We should not encourage our children to be financially secure, but financially responsible."

The Tower does everything they can to stay "financially secure" at the financial expense of followers. They encouraged followers to sell homes and businesses in order to slave full time for the Tower, while the Society pads their nest egg and buys property from literature sells. They've encouraged young people to forgo college education so the Tower can reap the benefits of full-time slaves. It's difficult for followers to become "financially responsible" when they have dead-end jobs with low pay, and few benefits.

The Watchtower Society has become nothing more than a publishing corporation using religion, fear, and high control to gorge itself on the labor of others by encouraging followers to meagerly scrape by. The Tower requires booksellers, not college students--apparently that hasn't changed.

OB, thanks for your post, since I don't go to the meetings anymore I read any posts concerning CO's DO's talks because they give insight to the state of the BORG.

My wife and daughter both go to the meetings once in a while. My wife has a degree from a major university my daughter has it already in her head that she must go to university.

I can't understand why the Borg continues to discourage higher education, it the worse disservice the Borg does other than treating your extended family with less love than your a fellow JW. Down playing the importance of higher education takes dreams away and good lives to live. Ultimately it makes many JW's bitter who end up with few working years to do what is necessary to set up a decent retiremen. Hoping and praying everyday that the New System will saved them from horrible years of old age with little money and without children who love them for supporting their dreams and aspirations, yes many JW old folks end up very lonely even though they have several children alienated by JW/WTS hogwash.

I think the WTS biggest fear that JW's will get critical thinking and see the Borg for what it is, a cult and not good for human development. But many religions have stupid doctrines and traditions with many who are highly educated and hold on to many of them who contribute much money each Sunday. The difference is their pews are filled with lawyers, doctors, big business men, inventors who love their church because it supports their personal ambitions and dreams and viewed as fine Christians. The Borg makes one feel guilty for getting a higher education. Stupid!

The Borg would rather have you washing windows, mopping floors, contributing 30 bucks a month with you knocking on doors with those weakly written gibberish of mags. It makes no sense other than the GB/WTS sees a highly educated JW's as a threat to their control.

    Thanks Spartacus

Perhaps--'those' will get on the internet in an effort to prove it to themselves!

    One can dream, no?
