The WTBTS's proactive steps at preventing child molestation.

    Thanks Big Tex.

My point is that it's not a rumor. If you haven't heard about the molestation incidents in your area, then you're probably not in the gossip ring. It's all around us, and if full disclosure were made, I think most JW's would be shocked at the number of victims and perpetrators in good standing.

I am really sorry to hear about how many children have been molested.

My two sisters were. My Uncle admitted to me that he was the prepetrator of it 20 years later. From our discussion 20 years after the fact, it seems as though he did not carry this devious behaviour beyond his adolescence.

When he told me I had already been about 5 years into my being shunned by my family so I could not get my sisters to talk to me about it other than that they were dealing with it the way that they thought best. It's sad that they won't let their df'd brother give them some good advice that I have learned outside their organization. (I only wanted to give them advice on the need for counselling... this sort of discussion as far as my disgust for the org. would never have been mentioned to them... no point.)

This next comment is not meant in any way whatsoever to downplay the suffering that the victims go through!!

My Uncle, (and I believed him that he never carried his behaviour beyond some weird teenage deviance), is suffering as well. As far as I know, the elders didn't know what he had done. He never got involved with the JW's until years later but, their "pray about it and go out in service more" stuff din't help him to recover either. He's been depressed and suicidal for decades.

I'm not saying what he did was anything other than disgutsting but he has never been free in this outside world to get counselling. If the WTBTS allowed it, he likely could have been advised to "recognize and accept that your actions were wrong but that you can live the rest of your life by living by wholesome thoughts and actions." I know that's what I tried to tell him but what does a df'd nephew know. But alas, the WTBTS doesn't help either victim or perpetrator.

I agree. My bro's molester was fairly young, and got NO help from any professionals due to the elders, hence went on to molest dozens more. Sad for him.

Understandable. If I had done that stuff, I likely WOULD kill myself, as the possibility of it happening again is too great. I feel if your doing that stuff you probably should. Just step into that pitch and take one for the team. With no offense to your uncle. His admisson and guilt are admirable. Tell him to go to counseling immediately, it might help him feel better.

    Avishai,

I can sense your hurt and disgust. I am torn myself. I feel for the young molester who changes his ways. I feel much more for the victim of this young molester, that I do consider, despite my uncle being one, a pervert.

I don't know what else to say about that. It's just bad, unfortunate stuff.

I will have more thoughts to share with you at a later date, avishai. I just mainly wanted to point out that there are lots out here who care very deeply about the concerns that your brother's plight has brought to light. There is no easy solution.

It's just nice knowing that we CAN do more than the WTBTS is doing about it.

Aww, hell, buddy, I hope I did'nt hurt your fellings. I truly do feel immense pity for both your uncle and those who don't get help

It's just nice knowing that we CAN do more than the WTBTS is doing about it.

Amen. And that's what it's all about.

Brobennett, I'll be brief, "Who's in a bubble?" Secondly, would you please answer Formerout's question! Guest77

    Golf,

Ok I will try to be brief as well. The best preventive measures would be to put your children in a bubble. And not to trust anyone other that yourself of course. I am sure if you dig deep enough, you will find many preventive measures brought out by the Awake, I can keep digging if you like with the cdrom volumes.... Other than that the emotional disease that these pedaphiles have should be cured somehow to prevent further harm to children. I am not an elder or a parent... so don't expect me to have all the answers. Also, don't forget it is the duty of the police to visit schools by way of prevention as well.

The publications that are used by Jehovah's Witnesses are said to be overreaction, much like the pollution articles. And we can see what can happen when the oceans change just one degree with the dramatic increase in hurricanes this year.

"Some people may regard your article as an overreaction and may feel shocked about telling their little ones about what to do if someone?even a close relative?should touch their private body parts or ask them to look at or touch theirs. I have a message for those people: ?The advice in the article is excellent.?"

    Use of Awake!
    in Oregon

When the January 22, 1985, issue of Awake! arrived in Oregon, U.S.A., Joy, a minister of Jehovah?s Witnesses, went with a friend to show the articles on child molesting to the local police sergeant in charge of crime prevention. He revealed that he was just on his way to the local community college to set up a seminar on child molesting, so he took a copy of the magazine along. That afternoon, he contacted Joy and said he would like to use the magazine in the seminar. Joy alertly told him about the April 22, 1984, issue of Awake!, which featured a series of articles about missing children. The police sergeant ordered 200 copies of each magazine in order to give one to each person in attendance at the seminar.

I have nothing else to add to this subject, I have shown enough evidence that my religion takes part in the fight against child abuse. I went to the JW site and to the publications. The only other thing I could do is go to an Elder for an interview, but I really have no need, I am a single man with no children. I have been blessed to be warned by the local police when I was a newspaper carrier, they warned me about a homosexual that took a liking to me. No elders could have been asked to help, since the police handle these kind of cases every year, and my tax paying dollars go to the police, not the elders.. If anything, I would depend on communication as the best way to prevent any crime. But, written words help out with showing children and parents preventive measures to follow.

Correction, Each child should have thier own individual bubble.

There is no connection whatsoever between homosexualtiy and pedophilia. It is offensive to gays and lesbians to be linked to sexual offenders.

    BroBennett, you said,:

I have nothing else to add to this subject, I have shown enough evidence that my religion takes part in the fight against child abuse. I went to the JW site and to the publications. The only other thing I could do is go to an Elder for an interview, but I really have no need, I am a single man with no children.

    Dear BroBennett,

To ADD to a subject you have to first CONTRIBUTE to it. Big Tex did a fine job of showing us the reality of what goes on in your org. with letters to elders that completely contradict what is said in the Awake. The "evidence" you feel you have shown has been shown in it's true light.

    I'll give you a scenario:

Bob Jones went out and robbed a bank, got caught and in an attempt to get a lighter sentence he wrote a letter of remorse to the authorities. He was given a lighter sentence but as soon as he got out he robbed again and got caught again. He wrote another letter but the Judge was so offended by his hypocrisy that he exposed the letter to the public and gave him the absolute maximum sentence. The public felt that the Judge's decision was very fair and were happy to hear the punishment.

That is basically how the majority here feel. What hurts the most is that we have experienced the opposite of what you preach.

Big Tex summed it up best with these words:

There's an old saying: "What you do speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you say." and,

Again, the evil that Jehovah's Witnesses do speaks so loudly I can't hear what you're saying.

You throw in stupid comments like weather changes. I know more JW's that gon't give a shit about helping the environment because "Jehovah is going to come and clean it all up real soon." What if they are wrong. Your organization is more responsible for pollution than anyone because you're in denial.

As far as this topic goes, I really was hoping that you could me show steps that are being taken to clean up the mess your organization's belief structure has caused. Instead the opposite has happened. I mean this from the bottom of my heart BroBennett: I hope you wake up to reality soon. It does nobody any good to be half-conscious in your life, especially not you.

I blame the organization much more than I blame you. You are only a little pawn in their structure. However, despite your relative insignificance, it is still up to you to change what you can... change yourself.

    Brad
