I always knew it existed. But being apart from it more, it's so obvious that the Pharisees were in the minor leagues as opposed to the Witnesses of today. There are more rules and IMPLIED rules in this organization! Who you can say hi to, who you can eat with, where you should sit, what type of car is more "theocratic" than the other.......It just never ends! It's so good to be out of that debillitating mind set!!

Of course there is. The Pharasees only had the OT to make rules with, now JW's have both the OT, and the NT. Twice the number of books, twice the number of rules.
The hypocrocy is sickening isn't it Min?

One of the more self-righteous, brain-dead and illogical JW attitudes I've heard in some time:
Satan said Eve would become like God knowing good and bad... But Satan forgot to tell the first couple that they would have to sin and they will become less and less like God. If more and more people know that a certain person is doing bad... then the truth will be opened to all over time. But the problem with these molestation crimes is that the child knows the molester, and the child is told to keep quiet. This crime is then harder to solve and seems less of a threat to society since it is so hard to detect. At least with Jehovahs Witnesses there are many materials written to try and prevent such a crime.
Like you Min, it amazes me I was ever a part of such a mindset.

I believe the word ARROGANCE conveys just the right degree of meaning....
Min.....the further you distance yourselve from them and "build a new place" for yourself and your wife in this existance; the more you will wonder how your EVER had anything to do with those crazy teachings at all.....

the self righteous ones i knew as a jw i think would have been that way regardless of what religion they were..just being a jw gave them more room to grow lol.. one particular couple ( my broinlaw and his wife) killed me how self righteous they were. i got chastised for saying bitch one day from them.. this from two people who when describing kh builds would call certain brothers F*ckers, they watched any and all rated r movies they wanted but it was ok for them because it didnt hinder their spiritual growth. they were pioneers ( and house cleaners) .. i was "weak" because i just had 4 - 6 hours a month in ( this is their reasoning in one of many lectures)
i had 4 great kids, ran the office in my husbands business , took care of elderly parents needs etc that was 4 - 6 hours a month i could have used elsewhere big time !
you can never please the self righteous.. thank god i woke up and quit TRYING!

Cult Characteristics
The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should think, act, and feel (for example: members must get permission from leaders to date, change jobs, get married; leaders may prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, how to discipline children, and so forth).
The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity).

I thought that the Bible taught us that Adam and Eve were given FREE WILL. Evidently, that shouldn't have happened... no more free will for you! We will dictate what you eat, sleep, drink, think, say, and everything else in between.
What's the point of being given life and free will, if you aren't free to exercise it?

It's funny how JWs (even weak ones) get all self righteous when they're viewing someone other than themselves. They are critical, gossipy reporters. Instead of ever looking at their own imperfections, they rip everyone else.

I read on this board how some think we shouldn't be critical of the Watchtower and they suggest WE'RE self righteous!
