You do not have to notify previous proxies signers or holders.

The new one automatically voids the old. If they are your current healthcare provider, just a new DPA is necessary not a statement voiding the old.

Also with the proxies on the old don't need to be notified, the new one wil void the old.

If you are a fader like me, telling the congregation to void the document or telling the JW proxy to void it might send up a red flag. I doubled checked with 2 lawyers in this state.

But I have decided to send a general statement to the ones who signed my old one and to have the congregation destroy the one they might have on hand, basically to the effect that I have had a new one drawn up and that they should destroy the old just to be on the safe side without going into any detail.

One of the last times one of my family had to go the ER/was in hospital , I had them take me out of the bloodless program. They hit some delete keys, and i'm gone. And I've been back since and they do not have me in there. No questions about it, no red sticker on my chart saying 'bloodless" nothing. free at last.

    Hi Everyone,

The WTS going to strictly the Durable Power of Attorney, removes the Elders and the congregation away from an individuals choice to refuse blood. I suspect the group lawsuits against the WTS for making the followers refuse blood has them worried. Some who have lost family memeber due to this policy have a class action lawsuit going and the WTS I suspect are trying to worm out of paying for anymore if it is won. I suspect this is an effort to remove the religious policy out of the picture so they can't be sued for JW refusing blood on religious grounds. It then becomes the responsiblity if the JW and the people who sign the DPA for them.

Just a consideration don't you think?

Durable power of attorney is a very serious power to give to someone else. The only time it is enforceable is when you are incapacitated. Once you are incapacited, it is irrevocable. WTBTS has figured out another way to be free from liability in these matters, as corporations just don't hold DPA over other's individual health care decisions. This really sucks for the people who take on this power, because they are now liable for their decisions. If they knew they could be sued (and have to pay for a defense), do you think they would still agree to be someone else's DPA? This is a HUGE move to make WTBTS judgment proof for the unconscionable policies, but still keep their control over the R&F.

I will have to tell my father about these, so that he can tell my mom not to become anyone else's DPA in the congregation.

The WT makes decisions that control us, let the elders enforce them, and still we are in the dark as to the manupilative ways this is done

if any new "procedures" become acceptable and listed on the DPA, etc., etc.

I wonder if they will list Hemopure and Polyheme as being acceptable for a good dub??

After all what problem could there be with cow's blood changed into a "blood substitute" by the miracle of modern medicine.

I would like to query the HLC with regards to the use of these substitutes and then present the "facts" to my wife if she wishes to have me sign a DPA for her. Maybe it will make her think....NOT

We had a new medical directive last month. It surprised me, that there was only 'I refuse everything' box to be checked, while the previous one had a lot of choices: bloodcells, plasma, full blood, and so on. This one is called a 'simplified' one.

but in my eyes this one is back to the old days: no blood, and no blood fractions. No 'matter of conscience.'

I don't believe there is anything new here. They stopped the annual

blood card signing in 2004. Here is our current analysis:

Marvin has one of the state forms posted although not current:
