I think the dealth penalty is being too nice to Scott Peterson. He's in his early 30's. They can get 40 years out of him easy. Let him watch the best years of his life pass him by.

Scott Peterson is an evil man.

He killed his 8month pregnant wife and dumped her body in a Bay out in California. Months later the body was found along with the body of the baby.

I guess he got what he deserves.

15-20 years on death row... I think I would suicide... Few do though. I think the reason so few do is because to take your own life (rightly or wrongly) requires courage, most of these animals (if you've been bad enough to get on death row your no longer human to me) have NO courage if they had even a scrap of it they wouldn't be on death row to begin with... Afraid to get a divorce so you kill your wife. Or afraid to talk to girls so you kidnap rape and kill them. Afraid to live your life so you take someone elses...

This case and all cases like it are very sad...

But who's paying the accommodation bill?

I don't care who Scot Peterson is and what he has done. What amazes me is the general agreement on the very principle of death penalty. It has been abolished over 20 years ago in France and nobody here, except a few far right politicians, would ever dare to mention it again.

I don't mean we're right. As Mouthy said life-long sentences can be worse than death. I guess at least people who ask for death should be allowed to die, and refusing this may be cowardice rather than humanity. But... is the debate on capital punishment really closed in America, so that everyone takes it for granted?

    (Deliberately off-topic.)

I just hope the judge doesn't reverse it. Because even if it won't bring Lacey and Connor back, it will give her family some peace.

I was listening to this on Court TV today, and the experts all seem to agree that the judge won't reverse it.

They also said Scott will die of old age in prison. (Unless of course someone in prison doesn't kill him first)

Why, oh why, don't they kill them faster. It costs so much money to house them for 20 years or more.

Narkissos, most Americans are divided on the death penalty issue. Some crimes are so heinous that death seems to be an easy out, for them. I tend to agree with it, if there is no doubt of a person's guilt. Why extend mercy to someone who had no mercy for their victim? (or victims)

Death Penalty for mass murder only. Period.

Scott Peterson is notable because he's the first white yuppie in 13 years to get the chamber. It is disproportially given to poor and minority convicts.
