Is There Anything To Admire Jehovah's Witnesses For...... In Reality?

When I think of how a JW shows a Christian outlook, the first thing that popped up in my head was how judgmental they are. They individually might be nice people but "as a class" they are very opinionated. Of course not everyone's the same. You and I aren't like that.....

I'm working on not being that way...actually I was never a good JW in that way...I never demonized non-JWs and found much to admire in them.

I can remember when I moved one year and everyone was busy getting their auxiliary time in, working on quick builds, etc., etc., etc.

A man at work asked me if I needed any help and I wasn't too proud to have a "worldly" person help me. He, his 2 sons, his wife and another family from his church showed up with a truck and moved me in 2 hours. His wife stayed and helped me set up the kitchen and make the bed.

When I told my "spiritual brothers and sisters" I was cautioned against worldly association.

Walking by saying be warm and well-fed.

Speaking specifically about a few of my relatives, I do admire the changes they made in their lives because of the association with the dubs eg... gave up excesive use of drugs and alcohol, on uncle actually learned how to read through his bible studies.

I don't know if all of the credit show go to the Borg for these changes, however they do seem to be happier with their lives.

Blondie, you are so right! There's very little to admire them for. We've had many hard times but I remember one of my babies being born prematurely and being desperately ill. They never called, offered to help or asked after him.

When my husband lost his job just after we moved house and got a new mortgage, an elder came to visit and said that of course we couldn't have any financial help but they come come round and study the watchtower with us on Friday evenings. My husband didn't even dignify that with an answer.

I find their blind faith rather impressive though in a sad sort of way. How they hang on for dear life to the hope that they will NEVER die or WILL live forever if they just KEEP GOING to the meetings. Sad really.

Actually, JWs and all other sales people are to be admired because in this day and age it's difficult to knock on strangers' doors. I mean, it's plain dangerous these days!

When a JW gets into mortgage trouble, the other JW (renters) look down on their "materialistic" brother.

I think many JWs are very sincere in their spiritual walk, however, that can be said for nearly any religious group.

All in all, I don't know of ANYTHING that sets the Witnesses apart from other groups that can be admired. For sure, there are things that set them apart from others, but shunning, forced service, and viewing non-JWs as followers of Satan is not something one would put into the "admire" category.

Those who don't know might "admire." Those who know might not "admire."

    Knowledge is something to "admire."

Of course they have zeal, everyone has zeal to some extent concerning something. I feel now being away and looking back that I was pushed along mostly by the power of cult, but I also had zeal in what I felt was my worship of Jehovah and finding salvation. Lets get real please.
