Leeches are used in a lot of plastic surgery, especially when fingers that have been cut off are re-attached. The promote blood flow to the newly re-attached digits and thus prevent clotting. I would suggest that any JW facing this situation argue that fingers are necessary to the preaching work; such as in pointing out key doctrines. If the Society still says no, I would suggest to the JW that one finger in particular now becomes essential in dealing with the Society!

As I recall, sometime in the 80's (or maybe late 70's) we were told to check our pet's food for animal by-products. This was usually another way of saying animal blood.

Ah yes ...the good old days.I believe it was the late 1970's and paranoia was in full bloom. Fred Franz was in charge and many of his idea's got more weird as time went on.

In Canada we were warned that even flour MIGHT have blood put in it to "fortify"it and we better watch out eating at Mc Donalds because they might not bleed their meat properly. It was all to do with CONTROL and many dub's never questioned it

Another young couple took their dog to the vet who recommended a transfusion and they decided to put the dog to sleep because of their convictions. Makes you wonder what the dog would say if given a choice, a quick death now or a few more years of life with new blood.

The dog will get resurrected if he died faithful...won't he...

If the Society still says no, I would suggest to the JW that one finger in particular now becomes essential in dealing with the Society!

Incidentally, to the best of my knowledge drawn only from TV programmes, ALL pet food meat is taken from animals that have been collected from what we call the Knacker man. Usuually this would be animals that have died of natural causes . So , they would not be bled, would they?

The secret fault many of my JW friends tolerate about blood is the eating of raw cooked steaks, my mother in law does it all the time when we go out and when her steak is served you can see the diluted liquefied blood squish out as she cuts her steak. YUM.

Many years ago when I researched the bleeding practices done at slaughter houses I was amazed to find out that about only 50% of the blood inside an animal is removed through the bleeding process and the remainder stays in the organs, vascular system and tissue, so an essence when one eats a steak that might even be very well cooked you'll eat blood not in the liquid form but as a solid.

I remember the days - back in the 70s - when some idiot started the rumor that Dairy Queen ice cream had blood in it. We had to stop getting ice cream there for about 5 years until it was clarified that the ingredient in question was from a vegetable source rather than an animal source.

OK, I now have a new item to add to my "Stupidest thing I've ever heard the Watchtower say" list.

Don't feed animals blood. That's absolutely crazy. I mean they're animals, they eat blood. What's the big deal. This one ranks right up there with:

Don't date until your ready to get married - How are you supposed to know if your ready to marry if you don't date?
Do you just wake up one day the suddenly have the urge to get married?
