Oh your a fine one to talk Sirona...you send me a special healing kit and all it included was Campbells chunky soup and a special incantation which I said over and over again O-WA-TA-AS-I-AM....still don't understand why I had to stand on my head while eating the soup or why you wanted pictures of my healing process...what did you do with those pictures anyway?

Classic healing scam...Benny Hinn...ever watch that guy on TV...he was caught back in the early ninties possibly even jailed (not sure) when he was caught using a earbud to receive personal information on ones in the audience which he used to make it seem he had a special gift from God....several years later he's back on TV and raking in the dough again...some people want to believe in him no matter what.

My partner and I were talking about the practice of healing (he teaches Reiki) and he agrees that if anyone has the gift of healing, and is a true master then they wouldn't be making a showy display of their craft, however he sees nothing unethical in requiring a fee for his services. I believe in healing and I think each person has the gift to some extent to cause the body to heal. I think the natural insitinct to massage our elbwy or foot or any other part of our body that gets hurt is a manifestation of that ability through touch.

One website wanted £60 for one distance healing session.

A real doctor would be cheaper.

I've just got back from a healing session at the local Spiritualist Church (they hold healing sessions every Monday night). Tonight was the last healing session of 2004, but it resumes on 10 January 2005. No healer receives money for the work "he/she" does, but I always make a donation. After my session this evening, I went back to my seat and observed the healer writing something down. He then came straight over to me and said: "Ian, that's my telephone number. As we're closed until the New Year just give me a ring if you feel you need me!"

In other words, he's prepared to come out to my home and do healing because he knows I'll be without until the church opens again. I also know he won't expect payment. Now THAT'S what I call a healer.

Sirona, if you were doing it full time and people were genuinely benefiting then I can see the need for some remuneration because of your time and the use of your facilities, such as the cost of equipment and electricity for heating, etc. But I would feel uncomfortable if I saw my healer making a career out of it. Rather, I would advertise that the healing is FREE but donations are welcome to help defray costs. Any genuine person who felt they were benefiting would be only too pleased to donate.

If people didn't donate enough to cover expenses, all you would have to do is put up a notice stating that, unfortunately, because the donations are not covering the costs you are going to have to drastically cut down or close altogether. That should stir people into doing their best to help. However, I doubt any true healers make any or much money due to the very fact that they are doing it out of love and compassion.

NB: The Reiki healer I go to puts money back into her healing room and even gives out gifts to her students. She has never charged me once and whilst I was writing this she telephoned to book me in on Wednesday. She said she wanted to make sure I was all right - and this not long after she had a bereavement. I told her to wait until after the New Year because I know she's had much to contend with. She wouldn't hear of it, but wanted to make sure I was continually receiving treatment. Again, she puts so many money-making healers to shame.
