Why is it that the only time they will announce WHY someone was DF'd from the platform is for apostacy? But if someone is a direct threat to children, raping them, they won't say why? It just does'nt make sense. Even for their survival I mean, geez. can't they figure out that all an apostate can do is talk crap about them, but a ChiMo will RAPE THEIR CHILDREN? DAMMIT!!!

It's like if I went and punched someone who was in a different politacal party than me. But i let a Nazi come into my house and take my kids for having Jewish blood! It's so damn ridiculous!!! More questions to follow when my ability to post a new topic refreshes

Well, they talk smut on the Catholics for having child molesters, so if the general public were to find out the JWs have them as well, there goes what little credibility they had left down the toilet.

I didn't think they were EVER supposed to announce why someone was DF'd.

I don't remember every hearing why anyone was DF'd,... they just make sure that the Thurs meeting has a talk about the particular sin and then everyone talks about the fact the person MUST have committed that particular sin.

Because an 'apostate' among them is the most dangerous individual for the interests of the WTBTS.

In times past, they always gave the reason as "conduct unbefitting a Christian". I never heard any other reason. In more recent times, I don't recall any explanation at all - probably concerns about slander.

Those Local Needs? talks during the Service Meeting? were supposed to be the venue used for giving talks regarding inappropriate trends and behaviour in the congregations. Usually this happened within a week or two of someone being Publicly Reproved? or Disfellowshipped?.

That's about the limit of the exposure, although I don't ever recall hearing such a talk given when there was a child molester in our congregation.

There were disfellowshippings for apostasy in the early 1980's in two north Minneapolis congregations. As far as I recall, the reasons for disfellowshippings are not announced because of legal concerns. I think there was a directive from the society's legal department outlining the format of the announcement: "A judicial committee of the ***** congregation has disfellowshipped ***** (name)." They quit giving the reason (usually "conduct unbecoming a Christian") sometime in the 1970's.

However, due to the active rumor mill that the Witnesses have, everyone who cared easily found out that the disfellowshippings were for apostasy.

Later, the ex-elder who was DF'd appeared on a morning talk/interview show outlining his trials and tribulations as a Witness. That show was videotaped and passed around among some of the Witnesses!! (The JW's who watched the tape were later scolded at a circuit assembly by the district overseer.)
