I remember one time at an assembly these two "brothers" were actually arguing over thier seats. I thought they were going to go to blows. Isn't it funny how during the regular meeting nobody wants to set in the front rows, but boy at an assembly everyone wants to have that "showy means of display" by being in the front rows to be seen by all? Cheers

...yes, there were some great "suck ups".

There are "suck up" wordly types that I know also. The difference is, the JW suckups are not smart enough to know that the person they are "sucking up" to ; is probably a bigger jerk than they are.

Your comments seem extemely critical and negative. I personally like to sit near the platform in assamblys because it helps keep my concentration on the program. I really don't care if I'm seen sitting in the front or not.

And why is it that when someone is working hard in the organization, you label him as a "suck up". Could it be that the brother is motivated by his love to Jehovah and to his fellow brothers and sisters? Come to think of it, the only reason you would call someone working hard a "suck up" is because you were too lazy to do any hard work.

Oh please Sword, I used to be a miniservant... and yes, I was a suck up. I admit it! Suck up!

I loved having the new responsabilities. I loved everyone seeing me grow in the congo. Was Jehovah there? Not sure, come to think of it.

Whats the deal with supposedly not saving seats for others. Everytime a CO or another most high was in town, You could not find a seat because all the upper echelon saved them. Also at the assemblies their was a mad dash to save the seats for your "car group". I guess most came in buses or something.

<sarcasm> I experienced intense love at a kingdom hall building project! </sarcasm>

At the time I had been unemployed for nearly 2 years because I was retraining due to a physical injury. I had lost my home and my wife and I were temporarily staying with my mother. We were barely able to make ends meet or even feed ourselves, but each week, like clockwork, the elders called us to tell us what food we should bring to the building site. We also volunteered to help with the security at the site. One evening we went to the site for our turn at security and to bring food. Unfortunately, the rest of the people on the site did not permit us to eat with them. No, we couldn't even have any of the food we brought. Why? Because they were lofty construction workers, and we were merely security volunteers. So I ended up having to drive to a nearby restaurant for about 15 minutes to grab some take-out sandwiches.

Then I was counselled for abandoning my post for the 15 minutes.

The next week they had the gall to ask for food again. I told them not to ask for anything, ever again.

I did it all the time. The only thing that ever woke me up was an elbow to the ribcage. Walter

Sword of Jah ( interesting metaphor! one could almost consider it blasphemy!)

    Your comment begs a response......

As a former ministerial servant and fulltime pioneer ( not to mention the book servant and son of an elder) I consider it my obligation at this juncture of my life to be critical of the Watchtower bible and tract society; its teachings and its followers.

I like to call " the shots as I see them" so lets call a spade " a spade".

I do not feel guilty about my devotion to the religion I was raised with and my unselvish sacrifices to deliver " the good news". What was discovered as a reward to me and other innocent devotees like me were lies; deceit; counterfeiting and additional lies from the Watchtower; which I might add continues to this day.

The Watchtower proved itself to be no different than any other organization; religious or otherwise. It has earned its place as a middle tier fundamentalist religion which continues to foster ignorance among its followers. While the devotees are no doubt sincere in their efforts; they are no different than the victims of Jim Jones Guienna suicide decades ago.

Criticism? Yes; I have EARNED the right to be critical.
