We already know from past disasters that you couldn't get a dime out of the Governing Bodies ass it you used a crow bar to get it to help non-JW victims.
However... until they can get all those bible studies started with the survivors who lost loved ones, they should really get some JWs over there to help with cleanup of the thousands of dead bodies. This would really be good theocratic training to prepare for Armegedon when they will have to clean up millions of the dead that Jehovah is going to kill.
She went quiet and then said that there would probably be a collection at the KH.
ROFLMAO!! Ya, they'll be a collection at the Hall......when pigs fly out of the Circuit Overseers' butt. This is the ONLY religion I know of that discourages charity work and giving to others who are not Dubs. It makes me sick when they use the illustration of the Good Samaritan and apply it to Witnesses who "preach" to their "enemies". That illustration has NOTHING to do with preaching, and everything about helping those who are considered our "enemies".
While organizations such as the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, and several other churches in the county gave it all with open arms, the WTBTS only through 'word of mouth' among its active members gave to their own.
That's certainly the way the went about helping each other during the Houston foods of 2001. Any help to a unbeliever was incidental in that they probably lived with someone in good standing.

As others have said this will never happen in a month of Sundays. The only collection I ever saw was for a "cell saver" to be used on Witnesses refusing a blood transfusion. This collection was officially 'sanctioned' by the Society, HLC and the local elders.
Partly, the problem has to do with the paranoia that JWs have with not being associated with any false religion. They are unlikely to give to Oxfam, the Red Cross or Save the Children because of association with either the UN or Churches. So it just doesn't happen.
- They now have the hope of resurrection and working toward everlasting life (disgustingly, this translates to "they're better off dead")
- We do our charity work by giving so much of ourselves in the ministry work ("you ain't gettin' a dime outa me")
- We are seeing the fullfillment of biblical prophecies. To mourn them would be to mourn Jehovah's purpose. (They are really looking for the bright spot and hoping that it signals the long-awaited slaughter of 99.9% of the world's population)
Here's a reply I got from a JW about this disaster:
God did warn them. He warned all of us a long long time ago. Sign of the times???? Just think, all of those children will probably be resurrected after armagedon. Had they lived, they might not be. This is my way of thinking anyway. I do feel for each and everyone who suffered in this horror though. My heart goes out to all who have been affected by this event and any other.

This gets my vote as most Ironic post of the year!!
