Somebody sounds a little too excited about having a private party with a beefstick.

I still don't know, maybe just have some fun with friends around town.

We make a really good effort to be in bed and asleep long before midnight on New Years Eve. If we aren't, it will take a long time to get to sleep. The people around here make an awful lot of noise that night...............fireworks, sirens, whistles, firecrackers................endless.
So we plan to have a little champagne, watch a little TV and retire early.
Gawd! We're getting old!!!!!!!!!!

I've only been "out" on new years a couple times. I always felt it was a holiday for the neophite partiers. I partied all the time, so took the night off and usually went to bed early.
These days I'm an old fart who no longer parties.... I'll probably be in bed by 9:30 with my earplugs in.
We have a condo assn party we can go to. We might make a short appearance there early.
The BEST New Years "party" was 31-Dec-99. We were on our sailboat anchored in a small bay off the uninhabited island of Isla Isabella half way between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. At 9pm we were tired and decided it was finally New Years in New York (actually we were in mountain time zone but it was still a good excuse), radioed the other two boats in the bay, and set off bottle rockets on deck. Then we all (3 boats) went to bed... exciting stuff. (Yawn)
