    Schizm,

Nasty??!! My comments were quite polite.

You're not only a nasty person, you lie a lot. Now, politely stop hijacking my thread.

First of all, I stand by what I have said regarding dealing with people with your type of personality.

Secondly, this is a discussion board. Do you think you should be able to make a comment about people facing east when buried, say that it is because some people believe that Jesus will come from the East, make a comment about whatever floats your boat regarding their belief in that, implying that YOUR interpretation of his return being more accurate and NOT expect people to disagree with you?

What have I lied about? Call me a liar without any evidence to back it up and then say "politely stop hijacking my thread."??!!

With each comment you have made in your last couple of topics, you have showed yourself to be more and more of the personality I have described.

    Brad

Just to be "Silly" if you are creamated, which way are you facing?

i think this is pretty cool...

The cutting edge of crematory jewelry is an innovation designed by a British company called LifeGem. Like Superman crushing a piece of coal, LifeGem will compress your loved one's remains under high pressure and heat until it fuses into a shiny new synthetic diamond. According to the company:

A LifeGem is a certified, high quality diamond created from the carbon of your loved one as a memorial to their unique and wonderful life.

The LifeGem provides a way to embrace your loved one's memory day by day. The LifeGem is a special and timeless memorial for creating a testimony to their unique life.

Okay I am going to chime in here, because I have spent two years of my life dealing with a cemetery that is over 150 years old.. that is still active. In the research we have done, there are many reasons people bury facing directions, east, west, north, south, etc. It has to to with beliefs, personal feelings, whim, etc. I have seen burials in a circle, semi circle, etc.

Some early burials (depending on religion) were buried facing east, the rising sun = rising of the dead. The symbolism on the headstones really says it all. Wreaths, pointing hands, clasping hands, roses, palm leaves, etc. all have meaning and tells a story about the person who is laid to rest.

Now days, there are so many ways to be buried. Some people are cremated and mixed into mortar to form a coral reef, some are shot off into space, some are condensed into gems, some even just are tossed into the wind.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to be memorialized, buried, etc. It is a personal decision.

    X.

uh-huh. i saw it last night on a show about diamonds. then they talked about how we humans are made of carbon, etc. pretty cool. there's just no end to man's ingenuity and imagination...

Here in Tallahassee in the Old City Cemetery (established in 1829) the majority of the headstones face east. I read somewhere that this is a Christian practice. However, there are a few exceptions, with some headstones towards the west. One monument in particular has attained notoriety. Legend says buried here in 1892 was a good witch, a Wiccan, who following her religious preference was buried towards the west. However, I question that interpretation since there are several Christian motifs engraved on her tombstone and she was a communicant of the Episcopal Church. I think this is a feeble attempt to explain the exceptions. I doubt they could all be Wiccans. Why could the reason instead not be that they just wanted to be buried in a different direction than the majority?

P.S. There are no tombs facing north and south, nor in a circle here; only east and those few to the west.
