Trust your gut. There are many here who say that older parents who are deep in the organization should not have the lies exposed to them. But I and some others here feel that even if they are older with years of service, in many cases they still deserve to know the truth.

Absolutely - different situations and people require different tactics. Gill, you are the only one on here who can judge how much info your parents can take. In my case the above doesn't apply, but that's judged by my knowledge of my parent.

It's just like a lot of things in life - no clear cut right and wrong answer.

    Hi again, thanks for replys.

I can't be overly sympathetic with my mother because she got us all into this mess in the first place when she started studying with the JWs . She used to be an ardent Catholic.

As for my father, he followed her into 'the truth' and they then set about converting the unfortunate rest of the family.

I'm, obviously, as I am constantly see sawing between shooting from the hip and dripping information, torn between what to do.

My father has for sometime seen my point on gambling for instance. Why is it all right for a very wealthy JW or even the WTBTS to gamble on the stock market and yet a disfellowshiping offence for the riff-raff to buy a lottery ticket. Hence they now own Premium Bonds, (which is considered by British JWs as gambling). I suspect the occassional dable in the UK lottery as well. In this matter I am not of course saying that compulsive gambling is good!

I broke the news on the WTBTS and small amount of shares in a cigarette company and shares in a mechanical engineering company that supplies NASA and the USAF to them and they were gob smacked and my mother would not believe it. My dad said nothing.

Time is going to tell on this.
