I see a familar plot here, sort of like Star Treck, the menagerie,(ex sp for all u ST fans) where the inhabitants of the world they were in ,created illusions for them from the deep dark recesses of their mind Their reality is being manupilated. However, hasn't the monster already gotten a couple of other people? and they have not been shown as being an illusion.

for sure this is a great story.

Tammy, you may be onto something. I hadn't thought about the island moving.

Last night, before we knew it was a hallucination, I thought maybe they had landed at Jurassic Park.

Ok "Lost " fans, what did u think? The polar bear is hear again. I thought the interaction with the father and son was great and the small glimpse we got into the map of the island ( by Sied) and the return of Clare.

What a pig the stepfather was, eh, Wednesday, acting as a barrier to Walt getting to know his biological father. I think the polar bear looked a little strange, like the picture in the comic rather than a real one. And Walt seems to have some abilities to manipulate things mentally again (remember the backgammon game)?

Yeah, I agree. But it was a CGI polar bear, not a real one. So maybe their budget isn't big enough for really good CGI.

And Walt seems to have some abilities to manipulate things mentally again (remember the backgammon game)?

So could everything be Walt's imagination? The "beast" and so on. Are they really all still on the plane and Walt is dreaming? If Walt does have some ability, did he create the polar bear and bird or just summon them? Of note, he may have had this ability before coming to the island. But maybe it's more powerful on the island. I can't imagine any boy his age not thinking about dinosaurs, yet there's no indication that dinosaurs started appearing at his home.

As for the stepfather and the letters, was it the stepfather that kept the letters hidden or the mother? The mother didn't seem to be overly concerned about involving Walt's father in his life. The step-father may be a jerk for giving up his responsibilities as soon as the mother died, but I'm not sure whether the letters were his fault.

As to earlier posts, I don't think the island is moving. Or if it is, I don't think it explains the reason North isn't in the right place. They know which way north was because they know where the sun is rising and setting. For that to be opposite, the island would have had to do a 180 and the sun would set on the same side of the island as it rose.

I still say this show is a bit like the star Treck eposide "menagarine"(sp) where they had illusions forced on them by outside forces. The illusions however, were things from within their own mind. Each person is facing a different trial, and resolving things in their lives it seems.

It was so touching the guy reading Claire's diary, (they love each other) and they show a brief glimpse of claire. She looks dreadful.

I don't think it explains the reason North isn't in the right place.

When that happened I was thinking in terms of a magnetic anomaly on the island. Compasses do not point to True North anywhere on the earth except for a select few places. This is because Magnetic North is somewhere in Canada, not the North Pole. Here in the Dallas area Compasses point 7 Degrees East beyond True North.

This anomaly (about 15 Degrees off) likely means that they are in a far northern latitude or far southern lattitude of the Pacific.

There is also the fact that the sun does not rise or set in true east or west except for on two days of the year... the Spring and Fall Equinox.

Because of this they could be off as much as 20 Degrees.

The only way to know for sure is to establish True North and this is done at night by spotting the North Star.

I hope I haven't gone waaaay overboard on the technical stuff?
