absolutely terrible what happened ... but by now its primarily about money and getting sympathy for israel. had the victims not be jews but lets say arabs or 'only' russians, polish and gypsies no one would care about it more than about cambodia, rwanda, mao, stalin etc. Who hears about these attrocities?

it is good to fight against intolerance and hatred but in this case the purpose seems to be a different one.

For istance, we have the Kurdish Holocaust, brought to you by our good friend and modern day Arabic Hitler, Saddam. Then we have the Sudaneese massacre, and also the Korean and Chineese human rights violations and so on.

Yup. And In Rwanda just a few years ago deaths were in the MILLIONS not the hundreds of thousands like the tsunami. Deaths like these, and in the Sudan etc. are far more PREVENTABLE than natural disasters.

God the lengths your anti-israel and anti Jew rhetoric go to are disgusting. It's a pattern Realist, plus your logic does'nt stand up.

Millions of Jews died in Russia under the Czars and then Stalinist purges immediately following. But do we hear about that? No. Stalin wiped out SHITLOADS of Jews along with others. Probably more folks than Hitler. We don't hear about that because he was our ally, not some "Jewish conspiracy" . Go hang out with JJRIzzo. At least he was an honest bigot.

    avi,

for the size of their population jews have an unproportional influence in US and european politics, media and industry. indeed i few that as somewhat probelmatic as it allows them to violate international law in the middle east and overprotect their interests world wide.

also, there is a difference between trying to educate people about the danger of totaliarism and intolerance and the holocaust industry. The Wave by Morton Rhue was an example of an excellent book that does show joung people how easy and dangerous it is to fall for radical movements...way more educational than the usual holocaust stories.

stalin did not persecute jews...he more or less randomly killed 15 - 20 million.

You mean the "purpose" of organising this event? Did you forget who's actually hosting it? Or did you mean the "purpose" of advertising it worldwide?

    Pole,

'this case' refers to repeating the same holocaust stories for the last 60 years. people are not left with awareness of how easy it is to fall for totalitarism but with how poor the jews were and how evil the germans (which is true but getting old after 60 years).

I agree with you FrenchBabyFace that individual evils, those lives are equally valuable. I think that in those cases its easier for people to be less reflective and think that they'd never act that way.

Every generation needs to know and realize the danger of systemic evil though, and especially how so many otherwise "good" people can be part of it. Like that other poster mentioned, there were many who complied with it, like "the one who drove the train" etc. Could that have just as easily been us and what would have been enough to bring us to that point? If we can learn the facets of society and of people that were capitalized on to bring it about, then maybe another one can be averted.

Nazism and the Holocaust remain unmatched as an example of ideologically-motivated race-hate where the systematic extinction of a race was seen as a major goal, to the extent plans were made on how to deal with people of that race in yet-unconquered territory

    Well said Abaddon.

Uh, you forgot to end your sentence with "Heil Hitler".

Sure there are Jewish lobbies that try to influence government and people, but its not like America is merely their puppet. The US support for Isreal IMHO has to do more with using them as a way of exerting American influence and control over that region. I also think that the current US zeal for Isreal also has to do with the now closer sharing of hurt that the populations feel from those that hate them. I don't see some Zionist conspiracy in this.

This thread has become somewhat political; yes politics is the source of the underlying problem.

However, as with all politics, it is the innocents who suffer. My guess would be that very few of the six million Jews slaughtered in the concentration camps had much to do with poltics or big business.

Realist; The persecution of Jews in Russia from Stalin right up through Brezhnev is so well documented that I'm going to let you look it up for yourself.
