We've got stainless steel fridge and dishwasher. They look great but yes they do show fingerprints. If you've got children (as we do) then you will have lots of prints. You do need to polish them every few weeks to get rid of the prints (or water marks) but I think when they're polished they look really good.

One thing though, if you get one do not ever, every wipe them down with a wet rag. You'll end up with a rusty looking refrigerator in no time. I've known people who've done that!

There is a new type of Stainless Steel in the stores. It is called Stainless-Platinum... it looks just as good but is not prone to finger-prints or scratching.

The prices are comparable to Stainless Steel.

Thanks for the great information everyone.

What do you all think about having a stainless refrigerator with all other appliances white? I'm not ready to buy all new appliances, and if I don't bite the bullet, I'll never change over to stainless . . . if that's the direction I decide to go.

CodeBlue, what do you think about the quality of the Frigidaire? How long have you had it? I was looking at some of those.

Mulan, I hear you about the hot, current color - I hope stainless doesn't go the way of avocado! By the way, the sales lady at Sears told me to NEVER clean stainless steel with Windex. . . something about it ruining the surface?

Big Tex, what color is your oven?

Elsewhere, I think that's like the Sateen finish. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I used to install hi-end Kitchens years ago. Baby Oil is on Stainless Steel..... works great. We used it all the time on the SS models in the sales room and on- the-job.

    whooops!

We were given a gift two years ago, of a cappucino machine..................a really good, Italian one. It is all stainless steel. We were told to clean it with rubbing alcohol . Works amazingly. Clear and clean in a jiffy.

    Carefully:

We have had our appliances for 2 years. I like the fridge, dishwasher, and overhead microwave......but I am not happy with the oven...(perhaps a different model, I sometimes have problems with consistant heating).

And...I must say, you NEVER use Windex on your stainless, only the approved cleaners that are recommended by the manufacturer!!!

They keep coming out with better cleaners that are easier to use too!!!

It's white, and I don't think it looks at all out of place with the fridge or dishwasher. I'll see if I can find a picture of the kitchen and post it so you can see. Actually we've had trouble with the oven so if/when we replace it we might very well get white again. The only thing my daughter doesn't like about the fridge is we can't hang school work or pictures on the front, only the side. Magnets for some reason won't hold on to the front.

I am a firm believer in white....however my wife is tired of the "white" look. But it is classic....

rather than stainless, we are ordering our new counterdepth ref with a trim kit and will have the cabinet maker install wood panels to match the cabinetry. It is a very popular deal to make the ref look like the cabinets.

I have all new stainless appliances. I love Stainless Steel Magic!!! My refrigerator is titanium, therefore allows magnets to be stuck to it. Regular stainless won't let magnets stick. Titanium also doesn't get the fingerprints.

I love the look of the all stainless kitchen. I got a Viking stovetop, KitchenAid dishwasher (stainless inside as well), KitchenAid double oven/convection/microwave. I forget what the fridge is. Expensive but beautiful.

Appearance is generally very low on my list of priorities when I make any purchase. First and foremost a product has to fill my needs and be of excellent quality. After that I'll consider price, and then color. If the colors end up matching, great. But I won't hold back from buying a superior product just because of its color, or because it may look "dated" at some point in the future.
