just give us an idea of what your typical day is.

What you eat and how much.

What you exercise and how long.

Then tell me how to fit in Cosmopolitans and a few glasses of red wine into the weekly routine.

    Seeking:

"I've started my new diet, well life change, and need all the tips I can get.

Well you are on the right track in thinking about it as a life change...because it IS a life change, and its *hopefully* a perminant one. When I hit my peak...and hit a turning point in my life...when I decided I WILL lose weight, then from there I changed things. First, I knew I had to exersize *every day* (at least 5 days a week). In the morning was best because then calories are burned all day, plus its easier to work it into a routine, exersize 20 minutes (it must be at least 20 minutes) right when you get up. I first started with a pilates DVD...just not doing the trick, and it got boring. I then bought an eliptical machine for $150 at Wal Mart. This is what did it. It was easy, but also a better work out. I could only do 5 minutes at first, then 10, now I can go forever but I do at least 20 minutes (and then I added in a toning weight-routine, another 10 minutes...not nessasary though, but it adds some fun). Do it in front of a TV or radio. I set my laptop up and watch 20 minutes of a DVD each time. Its better with headphones as an elliptical gets noisy.

The other thing I needed to change was my diet. I was eating fast food at least weekly...so bad. I was addicted. I had to quit cold turkey. It is so so hard. Even still I sometimes resist temptation.... If you *must* eat at McDonalds...get the salad instead with a fat free or low fat dressing (research the calories). Get a *small* diet soda instead of a large regular soda...you might be surprised at the difference in calories. Know how many calories a day you should take in. It varies depending on your size and sex. For instance, 1200 cals a day is good for me to lose weight while 1500 is better for another person. Also, little changes like skim milk instead of whole...again you would be surprised the difference between diet products and regular products. READ THE LABEL OF EVERY THING YOU PUT IN THE SHOPPING CART!. When I picked up my usual hot pockets at the grocery store, I was surprised at the calories...and the Hungry Man dinners? 1000 calories! I ate those all the time without ever looking! LOOK! So in doing that, I changed what I bought, therefore changed what I ate. Its best if your partner wants to change too...since most partnerships have an equal say in the groceries bought. Mike my S/O needed a change too...so it worked out for us as far as timing went.

And one of the most important things: Drink 2 liters of water throughout the day...at least a liter. I hate water, but its just so important. It really adds to your health and appearance too (my skin is so much better). It will also make you feel a little bit full.

Buy low cal snacks...it is not fun to be hungry all the time. My favorite is Orvel Rice Cakes (eew rice cakes?), no seriously, the chocolate ones have so much flavor and only 45 calories. And also, splenda tasts just like sugar but no calories. And there is Waist Watchers soda, no calories either. Just make these small changes and they go a long way.

Ok well thats all I got for now. ;) I know I am just repeating what people know...but its nice to hear it all from someone who it has actually WORKED for!

    My day:

Wake up...immediately set up laptop with DVD and headphones (w/ long cord) and start on the elliptical

20 minutes later, I use the mat and 5 lbs weights mike got me for xmas. I do some simple arm and leg strength exersize that Mike showed me. 10 minutes later, I shower, weigh myself (helps motivation-its not accurate doing it every day because of water weight, but it helps me keep going...like if I lose a pound, I am proud and glad I did everything, if I gain, I am not dissapointed but more determined than ever!) But do not weigh yourself if it sets the mood for the entire day.

Then for breakfast I have yogurt and fruit, and drink water. Take my multi vitamin too. Coffee is always a nice thing too.

Umm...then I go to work or classes. Snacks include a granola bar, or a rice cake, or more fruit, or vegtables.

    Light lunch, sandwhich, or soup.

Then a healthy dinner. BEFORE 8:00pm.

Live healthy! Know what size portions should be, pay attention to calories and fat.
