Oh this is a curteous reminder from the Big G.

"Don't go worrying about how you pronounce the name commonly refered to as Jesus in the anglo-speaking world,, just use what ever is common in your native language,, also feel free to use what is common in any language for that mater because I understand them all and will know right away what you mean. OK,, so you see,,, I can be reasonable,, but lets not forget to always say in Jesus name,(in what ever language you like). Hey it's really a no brainer,,use the name or my hands are tied,, ,,,or more accurately my fingers are in my ears and I can't hear you.naaah nanah naaah nah I can't hear you until you say the magic words. Need a hint?? (psst "in jesus name)"

A continuation of a curtious reminder from big G:

"Need a hint??(pssst in Jesus name)and you don't have to be a JW for me to hear your prayers because I don't play favorites one sect is just as good or bad as another"

I usually add "In Jesus name" at the beginning and end of a prayer, but I think that God does know I am praying to him..because he does know everything.

I still say it, though. But when I am not having a good day a prayer usually consists of "God, I am in a realllly bad mood!!! Help me, please..? Amen" lol

I have been out since 92 and from what I understand they have changed the doctrine of the mediator to being for the 144,000 only. So shouldn't the rank and file be praying to the WTBT Corporation as the savior for them?

In all seriousness, ritual might help some, but it can also be a nit-picking distraction.

I was just about to tuck into my lunch today and thought about giving thanks.
I "visualised" God, with intent, and silently said "Thanks." as I lifted the fork to my mouth...

Yeah, that was it, the whole sum of the prayer....

    Heatmiser:
That one slipped past me, too, originally. It was released in '89, but also in the 70's..

Jesus went to alot of trouble to dispel the image in what we call the Old Testament of God, the judgemental marionet who demands obedience to the nth degree of the letter of the law. He pointed out how David and his men ate showbread off the altar which was illicit to anyone but the priests without incurring God's wrath for instance. So God does not demand that we follow some formula like automatons in our worship of him.

It is appropriate to ask things in the name of his son, but I've never believed that he holds to a slavish use of that in prayer.

The two most sincere prayers I know are:

    "God help me!"

    and

"God bless (insert names here)" Especially of those who have harmed me.

No amen, (meaning so-be-it), no in the name of. Sincerity, IMHO, is what's important.
