Like Undecided, I never especially aspired to be anything. Being raised in the WTS, with my grandfather, dad and uncle being appointed Elders when the Elder system came in in '72, I found myself naturally doing what was expected. We always seemed to have COs, Missionaries, Pioneers and Elders in the house.
I Pioneered from School (had to come off, due to financial difficulties ), became an Elder, Convention and International Public Speaker, held down nigh on every position in the Congregation except PO, and was being groomed for CO work. My wife had also Pioneered from school, and we were well liked in the Congregation and Circuit. We regularly had the CO stay with us (about 40% of the time), but I kid not when I say that it was nothing to do with social climbing and everything to do with having been raised that way.
You might think that it was because my Dad was an Elder that things worked out that way. However, given that he was kicked out of Bethel in his first year, "deleted" as an Elder three times (well, once he was given the opportunity to stand down, rather than be taken off), and wasn't an Elder when I was appointed as Ministerial Servant or an Elder I expect it was potentially a hinderance. Oh, and I was once privately reproved, as a kid
I saw plenty of folks who "aspired" and it wasn't always a pretty sight. At times it was downright embarrassing, when an individual asked for lots of menial jobs just to get on the radar.
