should be there when you need her

Not at my beckon call, but would at least answer the phone.

    fix you dinner

I cooked for my last girlfriend orders of magnitude more than she cooked for me (once).

    clean up after you

Those who don't cook, clean. But this didn't happen with my last GF either.

    look good

    Indubitably.

    please you sexually

    Double indubitably.

    shut up when she should

Triple indubitably. But until its apparent I will have to come up with a keyword or gesture.

All i know is that in a family everyone has privileges and responsabilities AND not all can share the same privilege (nor the responsability) of having the final word. Can they?

    BALANCE!!

As others have said, that should answer the question, but I'm gonna spout off a few words besides that anyway.

My dad was the typical "Head of the Household" type of guy. I didn't think it was fair. I swore I wasn't gonna be like him. I wasn't. I went too far the other way, in order to try to compensate (I think anyway).

I married a woman who was abusive and controlling, from a distance. I was so worried about being the better husband, that I never really saw it. DOH!!

But, hey, like many have said, it's all balance!! I saw one extreme, then the other. The balance has created an almost perfect human being. And I'm single. LOL

But seriously, like others have said, the man and woman would be best to do away with stereotypes and look at each other as being EQUAL.

I now win the pool game if I am playing a women, I don't give a sucker an even break even women. I refuse to buy them drinks, if they offer to buy one for then I nod my head and ask the bar keep for Hennessy if she is too cheap to buy it for me then I buy it myself and walk off. If a women is loud and obnoxious I tell them to shut the hell up, then I ask the proprietor of the club to wash her and bring her to me.

The "Sisters" I have known have always played lip service to the idea of headship but always got their own way. Unless of course somebody in the congo asks them to do something that they dont want to do, then the husband gets the blame for them not doing it, eg. " I would love to drive you home sister , ten miles out of town, but my husband only allows me to drive in the urban area"

Secretly, a little bit of us, deep in the psyke says "Yes" to the idea of a compliant wife who exists to do us good , just like the Stepford Wives.

But the reality is that a relationship where both parties seek to do right by the other is a happy one , come to think of it, is that not what the Bible said all along?

Very good point. When a man mentions headship to a women all hell breaks loose.

Mecurious, I can see you have completely gotten over your JW attitude towards women.
