One of my children attempted suicide last autumn. I cannot imagine how painful it would be if the suicide had been successful. I do know the agony of watching helplessly as someone you know is in such pain and you aren't able to lift them up anymore. Your daughter sounds like she couldn't take the pain of her rollercoaster ride any longer.
