yes sir ee, like clockwork and to make this even more interesting it was the elders wife who would call up and ask us for our reports and nothing else.
also this sister use to hand out the theocratic ministry school assignments. I always was under the impression that this was something brothers did. Like a young MS. not a wife of an elder.
Its not like we needed more elders we had eight im the last hall I went to and several Ministeral Servants.
Did anyone else ever have the wife do the work of the elder presiding overseer.??
Orangefatcat.
Orangefatcat, she probably 'got off' on the "power" she felt by lording it over you guys. *rolls eyes*
Not once did anyone ever call me to see how I was. Not even when elders from 3 different congregations found out about my father (the elder) sexually abusing me. Not even when I told them I had been raped. But you can believe they called me to ask me about my time if I forgot to turn it in. Never asked how I was when they would call for the hours either. Yeah, 'by this all will know you are my disciples, by the love you show one another.' Gag.
My book study overseer who NEVER calls if I am absent at the meeting, will call me with clockwork regularity at the beginning of the month and ask for my field service report.
What else would he call for???
Absolutely... that is exactly what I do. I dont have time to call and the only reason I do this is because the pain in the arse Secretary bothers me too. I have commented before on this and I will say it again, the elder arrangement is flawed.
If you worked 40+ hrs a week, had a house mortgage, lawn to mow, house to clean, kids, etc. would you have time to "babysit" 15 people and coddle them to go to the boring meetings when sometimes you dont want to go yourself? We can nit pick and say "well then why are they in that position, they shouldn't pretend to do the job if they cant, etc, etc" but be realistic, its all a sham. I am begginning to understand why "christendom" pays their clergy.
Lately yes, thats the only reason. Other elders supposedly care more and are always making sheperding calls.
In this one congregation where I was an MS, the reporting was so bad that the secretary easily had between 20-30 publishers a month who failed to report right away. My job as assistant was to bug those people and get their time etc. before the 6th. I felt like suck an annoying bugger. I was grateful to this one hard-line CO that took over. He said it wasn't the secretary's job or mine to go chasing people around but the book study overseers. Not fun looking like anal time cops is it?
sure as hell. but he probably found out that my hours were just made up, so he quit calling...
Yeah, it happened all the time. The idiot would phone before he started checking the reports he had. Otherwise he would have seen that my report was among them.
Stupid bastard.
Walter
we'd get a call occasionally if we forgot to turn our time in. once we were graced with a home visit to get our time. it was the week before the CO's visit and i was asked to "add' a few more hours to my report.
Sometimes, it depended on who was tallying up the bogus bunk. I'd say "um put me down for about um, six, no wait a minute, what's the average a MS is suppose to have? I think I have 9 this month"
Sorta like "I'll have a large roastbeef w/ the works, fries and a large coke."
