My problem is that I used to have a job where I needed tools so of course I bought them by the thousands of dollars worth (gotta love company spending accounts!) So now that I no longer do construcion work how do you convince your wife that you NEED a $700 Bosch demolition hammer or a $400 Porter Cable compressor with 6 different Hitachi nail guns that cost $250-350 apiece and that you can't possibly even consider selling ANY of you tool on ebay...

As to drills I went through a 14.4v Porter cable hammer drill and two 18v DeWalts before I bought a cheap little 18v Ryobi drill honestly it's lasted a lot longer and it was CHEAP Now for corded tools the more expensive stuff has absolutly proved better but it's funny because no one company makes the best off all tools ie milwaukee makes great recips, big drills, and circuler saws but they make kinda crappy routers! Porter Cable makes a pretty good router and jig saw but their drills kinda blow! There is a company that does tool consumer reports that I used to have in my favorites but can't seem to find it if it pops up I'll post the link!

    Ps I always need hole!

a fella who does repair work for me wanted 50 bux to install 3 deadbolt locks for me..

i thought that was too much.

so i went out and bought a 90 dollar drill, hole drilling attachment, chisel etc.. (spent about 130bux)

and i had a blast installing them MYSELF. i wanted to keep drilling holes. i was GOOD at it!

oh man , now i gotta go charge my drill battery up.. theres gotta be a door here that needs new holes in it..

Look, if she can't be reasonable, I'd take it to counseling, and if that doesn't help, well, I think this situation might even be considered "scriptural".

Yep, Milwaukee's cordless stuff isn't all that great. Their commercial duty hammer drills and worm drive saws kick butt...but their right angle drill was beat out by DeWalt in a heartbeat. I have a Porter Cable Tiger recip saw and one of their top of the line general use 7 1/4" circular saws that I would't trade for any other. Their drywall finishing equipment is great too.

I have a wide range of brands...each good in their own area. I plan on buying Porter Cable's router too. One of the high H.P. plunge jobs.

Come on...use your imagination. I had to put in a new receptacle upstairs requiring the installation of an old work electrical box in the drywall. That translates to a new Roto-zip to cut the hole. Wife wanted shelves and pictures hung...well, I can't put my name on a shoddy and uneven job....that required a new laser level to get it just right. The bathroom door was sticking a bit and needed trimmed....a new Bosch portable power planer was just the ticket.

I can't wait....my next project is getting the exterior of the house in shape. It looks like it's going to require a new Honda 7 1/2 h.p. 3200 psi / 4 gpm power washer to do the job right....hehehe

My husband loves his tools. I have had to buy my own since I cannot use his... *harumph*

Gave me an excuse to accumulate a pretty nice collection though...

Xena, honey, we don't have to wait for a home repair project. I just like firing it up and drilling through disposable items: paper plates, rolls of toilet paper, old shoes. My dogs are very obedient now :-)
