    LittleToe!

Are the Hummers a kind of Rolls of the US? Do only the Great and Good drive them?

Moderators - I still don't believe JWs believe in God! If they did, they wouldn't fear the WTBTS like they do.

Oh! The Nouveaux Riche! I see.

Thanks LittleToe! That helps to put Gumby's 'offer' in perspective.

They do believe in God. Of course, they do.

They just see God, the Almighty, and his son Jesus Christ in a different light than others see them.

What light would that be, then? Half-light perhaps?

Could be that they see God as the same destroyer that they read about in the old testament who is only around for the Ultimate destruction of the human race, excepting JWs of course and then Jesus, who'd going to stand in his way, along with the FDS of course, with everyones record cards to stop him destroying the ones who have been to the meetings enough and put in enough hours, RVs, mags,Bks, Bklts, studies, etc. Therefore, they HAVE to please the Elders, FDS, WTBTS because there lies their salvation. Maybe.

Sure they believe in God. But they fear men more than God.

This odd behavior was something I puzzled about for some time. Many JW's are quite willing to live a "double life" proving to their "worldly" friends that they can party with the best of them. The "spiritual man" only kicks in when there is another JW in the building. I have witnessed this transformation many times, as my JW hubby enters public spaces where he might run in to a fellow congregation member. Up to and including ducking down supermarket aisles.

Why this strange behavior? Because deep down they must guess that the consequences of a Judicial Committee are far worse and immediate than anything God might dish out.

Many Fundamental Christians, on the other hand, are obnoxious all the time. They really do think God is watching 24/7.
