    G'day all,

Did you miss it? - the poll I mean!!

Mrs Ozzie and I have been in a different part of the world for a while where things such as JWD are quite unknown - can you believe that? They've never heard of JWD!!! Come to think of it, they'd never heard of discussion boards. Actually they could only give old Ozzie a broken down old machine with a "foreign" keyboard. It made for a very frustrating month!!

So, do you feel like sharing in a poll? Got out of the habit? Hope not, but anyway, here goes.

I think we need something fairly easy to help us get back into the habit of spending Sunday evenings at our polling station, so let's try this:

There always seems to have been a variance in the opinions Dub leaders have towards taking notes at meetings. Although the WTS officially recommends it, we have had travelling overseers and branch committee members here downunder actually recommend the R&F don't take notes - they feel it just gets in the way of following the talks.

So what was your experience? To take notes or not take notes; that is the question. (with apologies to Bill Shakespeare)

This weekend's poll question is: ......................drum roll........................

What did you do with your meeting notebook?

    1. Studied it every morning before going to work.

    2. Forgot about it.

    3. Kept it in my 'meeting bag' but not much else.

    4. What meeting notes?

    5. Used it to play Hangman.

    6. Told everyone at the KH about my excellent notes.

    7. Brought it out at elders' meetings/pioneer meetings/meeting with the CO - just to let them know!

    8. Lost it - I think!

    9. Made up a collection of them.

    10. Sent it to my nonDub relatives and counted it as a placement!

    11. Other (please detail)

So what do you reckon? Let us know.

    Enjoy.

    Cheers, Ozzie

    4. What meeting notes?

I was never really good at taking notes... so I didn't take them. When you're just learning the ropes of attending meetings, they tend to tell you just to record what scriptures were quoted. Then you upgrade to writing down information.

I agree for the most part with the downunder CO's. You are missing what is being said while you write. You may hear some, but much is lost. I took notes if there was something special that neede written down such as instructions or changes. Elders meetings required notes.

Many took notes because of upcoming meeting parts that required a memory of the past assembly.

For some....writing down things helped them remember.

Taking notes was very much encouraged by our elders. But regular meetings harldy ever made me take notes. Tho sometimes I brought a notebook when i felt very much in need of spiritual guidance . I did however also used it, together with my pioneer friend, to draw funny pcts of elders.

At assembly's ... well, I found one of my notebooks recently. And as i flipped through it, I found my grammies handwriting. I had written to her "This ia awfully boring, and the rest of the progremm doesn't look any better, shall we leave after lunch and come back tomorrow?" To which she had replied "yes yes yes!"

Now, I bet ya that was *not* the way they intentended the notebook should be used.

#4 hands down. I think I can recall taking notes at maybee 3 or 4 meetings and that was only when the C.O. was in town and I was bucking for a promotion to MS.
