Just wanted to say how admirable your attitude and willingness to help out your grandkids is. When I was that age, I too approached my grandmother in tears, asking if I could stay with her because I was sick of getting beaten and didn't want to be a JW any longer. I know the rest of my teen and early adult years would have been so much better, had she said yes. It's awesome that you're doing that for her.

Most JWs would shun their kids for leaving home and rejecting the "religion". There are some who may not. Only time will tell.

It is great that you will provide a place for your grandchildren. At least they will know unconditional love.

This is so true. The parents will most probably shun your grandson if he chooses to leave the religion. If he simply chooses to leave home, then they will try to convince him to continue with meetings and field service etc etc.

At any rate, he is very lucky to have you as a friend and grandmother. Well done and all the best.

Get them the hell out of there if you can. Even if he is disfellowshipped, he is young enough to build a network of normal friends and he'd have the best thing of all going for him; YOU!

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to raise a crowbar when my stepmother raised her fist/branch/other melee weapon.

You know, I think things might have turned out better for me if I had...

We'll never know now, will we?

I remember the last time my mom attempted to slap the s*** out of me. I turned just in time to catch her arm before she back handed me, and I said, " I swear to you, if you ever hit me again, I'll knock the crap out of you." I was 16 and had had enough.

Got the lecture from dad that night, and seriously doubt I could have ever hit my own mother, but mom didn't know that and never raised a hand to me again. It was over, thank God.

I don't know what state your in, but he could possibly become an emancipated minor, able to do what he wants, and loive where he wants, to be at home and force fed the borg nonsense isnt going to help him nor will it build him up he evidently sees the problems with the borg. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free, get him emancipated soonest.
