Ken, I agree 100% with everything you just said. People that do things irresponsibly, especially with children at stake, IMO do deserve dicipline. I just hat e that they ruin it for everyone else.

    Claudia,
Alchohol may be psychologically addictive, but I don't believe it has addictive properties to it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I hate drinking. I got bored with it.

Slayer; By my experience, after 30 years of constant extremely heavy drinking, physical addiction was very real. The physical withdrawal symptoms were as bad or maybe worse than those described in an earlier post. After nearly 6 years of being sober, I still occasionally have some of the pains, dilusions, and other symptoms of withdrawals occur. In my mind, I never had any problems ,once I realized that "I" wanted to quit and regain control of my life. It was a real physical "CHALLENGE" to get over it. I had also previously quit useing tobacco and drugs. The physical addition to alcohol was by far worse.

As to drugs; legalizing would take a lot of the crime out of use. I feel that certain people can tolerate and resposibly use drugs or alcohol(which is legal), it is not for me. I cannot use responsibly.

Undecided and Francoise, I'm sorry if you feel I am taking the whole thing lightly. I know my post came across that way, but I am fully aware of how many suffer from addictions.
In Francoise's case, it was bound to happen. Your body cannot relieve its own pain. It relies on what you supply it to relieve pain, and naturally builds up a tolerance over time.
In the case of crack addicts, I have to put a little of the blame on the person. I have used crack and powder cocaine before. I enjoyed both of them for the experience they gave me. I didn't go out looking for more the next day, though. There are a lot of people who have used highly addictive drugs like crack or heroin experimentally and did not get hooked. It all boils down to the individual.
I've had oxycodone before, but at the current street price of $10-$20/pill for oxycontin around here, I'll pass. If you want to try it (and I have said this in another drug topic post) be responsible when you do. Have everything stocked so you don't have to go drive to the store, if you have kids they need to be spending a fun weekend with grandma and grandpa or whoever but not in your care, leave enough time to sober up and get a good sober night's sleep before work the next day. Also, maybe have a trusted friend check up on you if you live alone. Take ONE pill at a time! If you don't feel anything, don't start popping them like candy. Personally, I prefer sticking with lower dosages and chasing them down with a cold beer or two. Don't guzzle one beer after another and don't take the pill after you've had a 12-pack. Eat a good meal, I like to go out to eat. Avoid greasy fried foods. Stop drinking before the pill wears off and drink water or juice to rehydrate.

If you must tickle the dragon's tail, I suppose your formula is as good as any. I would however, point out that you might want to be more specific than to say only one PILL at a time. Oxycontin comes in tabs of 10, 20, 40, 80, 100, & 120 milligrams. One 120 mg tab combined with alcohol could very realistically be fatal.

And I strongly suggest you eliminate ANY alcohol altogether. It's one thing to tickle the dragon's tail; it's another thing altogether to stick your finger up his ass.

Slayer, you betcha alcohol is physically addicting. I do on occasion take prescription med for recreation, HOWEVER never have I touched an illegal strteet drug since I became a mother. When i get a kidney stone I will save the percocet my doc gives me and take one here and there, I dont drink at all so i dont feel bad about this.

Sorry I left that part out, Francoise. I wouldn't go above a 10mg with alcohol. And you're right, the highest dose contin would probably be fatal if mixed.
You know, there's also other ways to "enjoy your day" that don't involve being a vegetable. Sorry ladies, you have to be a guy for this one.
Go to a health food joint like GNC and ask for Androstat Poppers and try them when you are doing physical labor or working out. The harder the labor, the better.
