anyone who uses satalite tv to get information is shunned because they could be getting information from Satan. And therefore misled.

WOW - Satan has his own TV station?

Who determines... they say its God. My take on it is this: If you are a good little JW and are active in the ministry, preferably from a long line of JW's and are of somewhat older age (otherwise the elders will be suspicious) then you qualify. If a 60+ yr old claims they are annointed the elders will not stop you from partaking though they do talk about you behind your back at elders meetings and discuss if they think you qualify or not.

Bottom line... its all a sham! If you are to beleive in everything the bible says then all christians MUST be born again and hence are annointed with his spirit. This is what Jesus said no matter what the literature claims to the contrary. That whole "the greek scriptures (new testament) were written only for the annointed" argument is hogwash. I would love to see them prove that from the scriptures. If that is true then reading them is no benefit to us because 1 Timothy 3:16, 17 is pointless. If its not written specifically for me then how can it be beneficial for me???

I'd say that God supposedly chooses these people . The 144k are hand picked by God in order to share co-rulership with jesus christ for a 1000 yr reign when the kingdom of the heavens descends on earth just after the battle called, the great day of God Almighty , or as most dubs would say the battle of armageddon . The WTBTS is obsessed with dates so naturally they have a cut off date for those who qualify as the elite christians or if you are involved in the publishing corporation the name faithful and discreet slave is used . The publishing corporation also reserves the right to proclaim other " anointed " the evil slave as they did ray franz . According to them if you eat a cracker and take a sip of wine at the memorial supper or last supper celebration or sellabration as many here would call it , you are professing to be one.

There are also the "Nouveux Anointed" (to coin a phrase), of which I was one

That must have scared them witless! I can just imagine the looks on the elders' faces.

Poztate....ya damn prostate! You make an excellent point.

I think you will find that MOST of the 8500+? that are taking part in the yearly ritual are born after 1935.

When I look back at ALL those I knew that were of the annointed within the organisation......many were born later than 1935.

The society's explanation as to how one "knows" they are of the annointed is.......they have a "DOMINATE mental inclination" to live in heaven. Jehovah's spirit bares with their spirit that they want to live in Heaven instead of on earth.

One problem with this is........if a person were to read the bible without the aid of watchtower literature or influence.......would ANYONE ever come to a conclusion that they were meant to live on the earth and not heaven? Jesus told his diciples he was preparing a place for them and spoke of this place as having thrones. He said this was in his fathers house.....and the father doesn't live on earth as far as I know.

The bible teaches the elect will also spend some time on earth,,,,but I've never read where it teaches this is the permenent home of those in Christ. ( speaking only from a biblical perspective) ....I had to throw that in ya know?

People seem to think going to heaven is just floating away in a cloud or something but the bible says the kingdom of the heavens descends on earth so the earth will be a part of heaven .

I always found the 144,000 thing funny. Basically you think you're one. Then you tell everyone that you ARE one. And then everyone respects you, especially respecting you words and commands. Its a religion with spiritual relatives concerning salvation and no absolutes.

Ermm, no, it's not like that. The net result is that everyone hates you and thinks you're wacko, or is instantly in awe, with a huge smidgen of doubt! Even parents and spouses succumb to that perspective. To the rank and file the "anointed" are not natural...

I have to agree with LT on that . They especially hate it when you start pointing out WTBTS error . The lack of humility from these people is overwhelming . In other words they go right to beating their fellow slaves without compassion and will do all they can to beat you over the head with dogma that amounts to nothing . They will even accuse you of having deemonzzzzzzzz .
