Reflexology is certainly not new. My father is a retired Naturopathic Physician and he was doing reflexology 40 years ago. I wouldn't call it New Age either. My cousin was very much into reflexology and she and her husband used to do it to each other regularly. At one point, she developed really excruciating pain on the tops of her feet near her toes. That is the area for the breasts (nerves and such). A little while after that, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and died 3 years later. I'm a believer.

As for astrology, I let someone do a reading on me a few years ago, and she was right on, with so many things about me.

About two months ago I was at the grocery store, going through the checkout line, and separating the groceries to be packed in a particular way, to make it easier to put them away at home. The checker laughed at me and said "you must be a Virgo". I about dropped my purse and asked her how on earth she knew that. She told me that what I was doing was a "very Virgo thing".

I used to have a lot of Asian friends, when I was doing business with Malaysians, and they were all very much into astrology. On the day I first met them, they were whispering and finally said "you are a Virgo, aren't you?" There is something to it or they couldn't make that call.

    Who knows about these things?

um what does reflexology have to do with astrology? The reflexologists I know don't do any of that stuff...simply theraputic massage and none of the unprovable start chart business..

If I had a spare $700-800 I'd go see sylvia browne and see what she says b/c she is supposed to be good.

I saw her on TV last week, on a show (Montel Williams) that was taped before Thanksgiving. He asked her for predictions for the future and she said "there will be a terrible disaster in the next month or two and it won't be a terrorist attack". That creeped me out, remembering the tsunami the day after Christmas.

I like Sylvia Browne a lot but she talks a lot about Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Christ Consciousness, etc., so am not sure about her being the real thing or not. She also talked about how aliens are living among us (from outer space) and look like us. Maybe she's getting senile.

She sure hits things right on though. One man in the audience thanked her for the advice she had given him and his wife the year before. They wanted to have a baby and couldn't get pregnant. She told them to have the doctor check her right ovary, and that there was a problem..................also they would have a baby and it was going to be a girl. They went to the doctor and insisted on an ultrasound, and they found a problem with her right ovary, got it fixed and she got pregnant and they had a baby girl.

Again, who knows about these things? I have decided there is just too much we don't know and don't understand. I try to be open.

its not like you are giving him your social security number....

the items he requested are all "public information" and could really be obtained by anyone interested.

Sounds like it might be fun to go along with it...

You question her legitimacy because she uses a slightly modified range of metaphors?
Why? (just challenging some potential biases here, no harm intended)

Just as "healings" have been performed by more than just Christian groups, astrology and the Tarot has been used by some "Christians". In fact the Tarot, for example, is deeply steeped in the bible.

I'm not sure why that bothers me. Maybe it is metaphors.

The psychic I saw with a work friend (few years ago) lives in Dallas burb area. She just could not get a 'read' on me , and I explained it was a very big thing me coming to see her b/c I'd been raised one of JWS . She said some had come to her door and she knew what they taught about psychics, but she felt she had helped more people than they ever had. It seemed to unnverve her so much that I'd been one , like I said, about all she could tell me was my health was not good and one small thing about my oldest child. Regarding my health, it certainly would not have taken a psychic to see I was not well. She was able to give my friend a good reading and tell her a lot of interesting things. She seems to know qiute a bit about her. She however watched me very carefully and was very quiet with me. She said she was blocked and did not apologize for not giving a very good reading.. She did however charge me and b/c i am some what timid I paid her. I could kick myself for that.

Curious, isn't it. Yet understandable, given our background.
