lol, I don't know except Missouri ( pronounced mi-sur-ah) was a split state during the civil war.

Hmm, is that why half are republicans and half are democrats?

That's what was talked about on the news during election time. I've never been, but want to visit.

Missouri is where Joseph Smith says the Garden of Eden was.

The Mormons also think that Missouri is where Jesus will return. Lucky us! The have built a HUGE temple in Independence (one of the suburbs of Kansas City) that has a huge steeple with a spiral staircase that goes up to the sky. That way, Jesus will only have to materialize at the top and then he can take the stairs down to the temple. Why didn't they just build the Lord an elevator? He may be battle weary when he gets here and would appreciate the thought. Sheesh, I might have been raised a JW but at least I wasn't a Mormon. Robyn

Missouri is also known as the "Show Me" state. That little factoid has come in handy a few times now.

When I was single, I referred to it as the "show it to me" state.

Big Tex... I didn't know all that about my home state! What do you expect from someone who only learned what they HAD to learn? You know the big "A" is right around the corner, don't you?!

I love the part of Missouri I go trout fishing at...just beautiful country..and you can even drink beer in their state parks! w00t! Also home to world's biggest McDonalds...you drive under it on I10? Also birthplace of Harry Truman I believe? I've been meaning to stop at the historic site where he was born, but I'm usually too eager to get down on the river.. I also think it would make a great place for an outdoors Apostafest..only about 7 or 8 hours from Dallas, plus closer than texas for a lot of folks...

    Sincerely,

I live in the Garden of Eden as well. According to the ?Panacea society? anyway.

lol, I never heard the different pronuntiations were between Reps and Dems. I thought it was between the country people (rah) and snooty, tooty city people (ree).

It does have some beautiful state parks. The young kids in STL would always go camping at Johnson-Shut-Ins. Now that would be a great place for an apostatfest. Or canoeing down the Current River.

There is another state park in the NE area that had a nice lake to go sailing on.

*sigh* fond memories are nice to revisit.

I remember I was like 15 or 16 and we were driving to AZ and I am from WI...Yeah really long ass drive!

My late crazy funny weird etc Grandfather got this used(really old) Truck. It looked like a Van/Truck in one it was horrible. 3 colors of blue. Anyway we were driving through St Louis and it was at night in December. It was really pretty the Arch and all the lights it was neat. My grandfather called it Misery! I thought it was fitting because I was in the front seat and it was "snowing sideways"and there was a hole in the side of the car and my feet and legs had snow all over. I was cold and I had a spring jacket(thinking I am going to AZ) on and the heater did not work very well! So when he said Misery I was like you got that right. We flew back home! He was so funny/weird I miss him!

I know it is a very pretty state. Too bad you have the Rams!

    Brooke
