Please, everyone stop complaining about this, "it's says clearly" ?

?..and these generations shall by no means pass away until all these things have occurred? Book of Brian Ch4:v12 ? ?Newer World Translation of the Holy Scriptures? 2007 ? (Patent Pending)

I thought they had that all covered by simply saying the world ended invisibly . Btw -- my grandma is still alive born in 1898 ......... I think there are still people that qualify for the generation of 1914 alive today . What if they simply got the date of the babylonian captivity wrong as many here say the facts show babylon captivity started in 587 not 607 bce . I remember also hearing that the calender we use today has a 5 year error so in actuallity we are now the year 2000 not 2005 . Who knows what other flukes could be effecting any of the dates .

I would say that is hardly defense of anything . just saying we won't know for sure until all is said and done . The WTBTS did try to cover it's trail by stating the world ended invisibly (fact) so as far as they are concerned that was the conclusion of this system of things . What I'd like to know is, are they still saying the world ended invisibly ? Now they are saying a generation can overlap. Most christian fundies believe that the gentile times ended in 1948 when the nation of Israel was entering the world scene . I am only really saying that there are still people alive from the generation of 1914 .

I personally think they could easily dispense with the whole 607 1914 dogma & replace it with a 587 1934 doctrine. It would just take 'another careful examination' of what was meant by the 70 years of desolation. It could still fit in ok with the 1918/19 dogma.

They've reinterprated things that were just as damning befo.

I mean really, the 607 thing is embarrassing.

IP_SEC --- The whole concept is hinged on what daniel 4 says , the stretch here is that the WTBTS believes that the 7 times pertaining to king nebuchadnezzar has an alternate interpretation of pointing to the messianic kingdom, so now all you have to do is multiply 7 times 360 and presto the date 1914 , that's if you use 607 bce as a starting point . now then, if we look at what point jesus claimed the rulership, which is in mathew 28:18, we learn he was ruler prior to his ascention . The WTBTS does mess up the whole thing as usual .

Imagine - if Russell was resurrected tomorrow, he wouldn't recognise the religion he founded. It's a whole new concept now!

Oh ya absolutely, I?m just saying that in view of some of the other changes they've been forced to make, its not a huge stretch of imagination for me to see them changing 607 to 587 and 1914 to 1934.

    Pros
    1. The get rid of the embarrassing 607 problem
    2. We've only been in the last days for 61 instead of 91 years.
    3. Most dubs don?t know about 587 anyhow and dont listen to apostates so the society could act like it?s their idea
    4. It'd be a great example of the light getting brighter
    5. It'd be a great example of how history now agrees with the bible, (member Sargon? :P)

    Cons
    1. The owe Ray Franz an apology, but that ends up a pro cuz they do talk to apostates so cant apologize.

IP-SEC --- I think the whole a generation can overlap thing is almost the same as your idea . 1935 is another pivotal date as far as the WTBTS is concerned , they officially took the name jehovahs witnesses and had refined some "babylonish" teachings at that point . I do remember jesus words of , jerusalem would be trampled on by the nations until after the appointed times of the nations was complete , Luke 21:24 .That's where alot of religionists get the idea that the nation of Israel entering the world scene was a sign for the gentile times fulfillment and thus putting it at 1948 . To me it could likely mean the center for pure worship which was jerusalem even at the time jesus mentioned this of which the jehovah witnesses in 1935 believed and still do, that they are spiritual israelites and a nation set apart from the world . The city of jerusalem still has it's problems with the moslem mosque that was built over it's temple and can still be considered trampled on by the nations . IMO . The jews are too scared to run them off as much as they would like . I think it really strange that the christian sector is hoping they do take it back , the jews are not christians or followers of christ .
