Were the doors locked at your KH, during meetings?

I remember a time when the brothers locked the doors during a meeting. If you arrived late, they had to come and unlock the door to let you in. I also remember a time when they weren't locked. I didn't attend since so long, that I don't remember if they do lock the doors during meetings these days.

Maybe there were threats and they didn't tell us, so they locked the doors, who knows?

It depended on our area. The little rural cong where I was, we never locked the doors. In some of the bigger cities though, due to crime the doors were locked. I personally htought that locking the doors was a bit extrme.

I think it depends on the area...high crime etc..

It would be a good idea to lock up at all KH's. You would have to beg an elder to unlock and let you out.

It would keep the attendance figures up for the last half of the snooze fest.

Our old KH was in a rough part of town and we did lock the doors.

Our KH was also broken into twice and the audio equipment was stolen, so they put an alarm on the KH.

I know of a few KH's that posted guards in the parking lots- to keep me from hand billing the cars. I would put tracts behind the gas cap doors. That way the JW `would find them later when no one was watching- maybe a teen driver who was open to the facts. I felt sorry for the poor ministerial servants who had to stand guard in the winter. Later on I just made up a large stencil and spray painted something like "call 1-800-why-1914" , with a homeowners permission on a fence visible on exit from the KH parking lot. It's easy for someone to get the facts today- a few clicks of the mouse.

i've only been once at the meeting for the memorial, and i don't think the doors were locked if they had been, i would have feel even more anxious!!!) . but what made me feel ill at ease, was the elders walking around us all meeting long, like if they were checking if we were attentive enough...

I remember one time,a few moments after the meeting started, I had an acute attack of the "stomach flu".
I told my wife that I was gonna go home, but I would be back to pick her up.

When I wanted to go outside I found that the door was locked.
I had to go back in and find someone to open the door.
I had to explain why I wanted to leave.

    grrr.
