    Mungo,

It may not have been true in YOUR case but it does happen. I personally finally sent my DA letter when they came after me for having a worldly gf. Since I knew I was headed for the big DF I took charge and told them how I really felt about their teachings, manmade publishing corporation inconsistant "New Light" and a host of other things. So while I formerly DA'd they made it clear that my dating a worldly girl was going to earn me a big fat DF on my publisher card.

As a Ex-JW student I know a few woman in the cong. that were married to a non-witness, I knew them for years (I studied off and on for 10yr+).Some times there husbands would come (mostly to the memorial). My teacher told me as she to was married to a non-JW that it is encouraged to marry w/in but well things happen.

Well, what can I say, rwagoner? Dating and/or marrying a non-Witness is not grounds for disfellowship, at least not anymore. The idea behind it is that having non-marital sex is worse than marrying an unbeliever. According to SOP your elders had no right to threaten you with being disfellowshipped. It was a legal loophole I was eager to exploit, and I knew I could get away with it.
