I believe that they are in advanced states of self-delusion, and when faced with evidence that they are wrong, they believe that it will be explained away in time by Jehovah, so they just bury their doubts and press on.

There are probably some who are there just for the sense of power that they weild over so many lives. Those are the ones that care more about the survival of the corporation than the beliefes, and may actually move over time to push the JW's closer to the mainstream. Don't know that they will ever dump the DF thing though. It gives them more of what they want; power.

Do you think that these super jerks have perks that come with power, like groupies? lol

In response to the subject line, I believe the GB is neither of those things.

They're just a group of men running a worldwide religious business as best as they can. The WTBTS is a religious business.

Good question - I have that one still on the shelf myself. If the posters on this site are any indication of the mindset of many witnesses, it seems that most are misguided. However, just like in poitics, once one reaches the level of authority and power that comes with a high position, most of what was admirable about that person suffers. All I do know is that whatever they do or say, it is not the work of one person. So, they are either all manipulators, or a few manipulators and a bunch of wusses. Ray is my hero because he stood up to them, as have so many here. Any way you look at it, it is inexcusable how they excuse themselves from responsibility for the "collateral damage" occurring in the ranks. Ivory towers indeed.

There's no question that they're in a large measure sincerely delusional; a lifetime of Bethel insularity and the incessant reinforcement they offer each other around the table has done the trick. Also, the worshipful adulation and fawning lavished on them by their drones in the rank and file has made them supremely arrogant. It seems they operate on the premise that what's good for the organization is ultimately good for its individual members.

Well said Room 215. I think these men are very separated from reality and especially don't have a clue about normal family relations, since many, if not all of them, don't have children. If they did then maybe they would understand the pain they cause with their cruel rules that separate parents from their children. I think their vision is very narrow and judgemental. I think they are prejudice and promote a lot of hatred in their teachings. I think they are control freaks too. That's my 2 cents, cybs

They are men who like power over others and they like money that position in the org brings to them . They don't live in the real world and have no understanding of the human nature, except how to brainwash their followers with one lie after another. They are very clever at hiding their manipulations. and blame their followers if their predicitions e.g. dates/times , don't come true.

The Watch Tower Publishing Corporation is a business and it's owners and operators are business people. They basically operate a charity with themselves as the charity beneficiaries. The misguided fools are the people who do business with them.

People who believe they are appointed by god are the scariest people of all.

Exactly. And as long as the book empire known as WTBTS keeps the sheep thinking this through twisted scripture and lethal policies, why let the secret out that they really know they are not some channel for god?

    It's the fear factor.

Well, regardless of which possibility is worse, NWT, ... don't you have better things to do than follow these losers around?
