Hey Zev. Nice to hear from you again. You are a teaser. You've been here and there long enough to know exactly how you are going to respond.

Do it and do it good.

    Dear Zev,

I had 2 JW's here 2 weeks ago. They were making a return call after placing some mags 2 weeks previously. I had told the young fellow that I did have a question re: help from Jehovah. When He did show up again to answer my question he brought with him a "sister" that I had rebuffed much earlier. she remembered me and said as much. Any way, the moment we got sat down I said my question regarded their dogma re: the Holy Spirit. I said that I thought That when the WT said that the H.S. is not a person that It seemed so misleading to me. I said that I thought that it was a good idea to look at the scriptures to see the whole picture. and before they could say anything I said that I thought it was so important because Rom 8:9 says that If Christs spirit does not dwell in you you are not His. and vs 14 says for all who are led by his spirit are God's sons. then I asked them to turn to Gal 5:18 where it says that all led by the spirit are not under the law. I suggested that the flip side of that coin is that If that spirit is not in you are under the law. You can not call yourself a Christian. She looked positively stunned. then she said well this actually speaks about the F&DS class. I said it does not say class...madam. she said ok. whe talked about the H.S. some more and the fellow started to tell me about how you can see in some people's work, artists for example, the characteristics of the person I said yes you can these characteristics show the persons ..."personallity" He agreed with mme. She shot him a look and that was the last thing he said before he said goodbye. She continued to try and recover lost ground, She told me "I WILL NOT say that I have the H.S. in me" I said OK. She said that she liked talking to people like me because she is used to talking to "those born-againers" I was ready to wrap it up at this point so I reiterated the fact that If you wouldn't admit that the H.S. is in you thaen you couldn't call your self a Christian At this point I reached across the table very near her hand and told her that I would never say that she was not a Christian. Both of them looked at my hand like it was the most unexpected gesture they had ever witnessed. I then said that to call yourself a Christian without admitting to the indwelling H.S. is false testimony before God and man. She said well.....you've given me something to think about. I said that I was afraid that she might not think about it. suffice it to say.... I took the lead in witnessing. using only these scriptures. She was visably flustered through the 45 mins. that they were here. you must take the lead, Zev, stay on track, stick to one "good" point. pray before and after that the H.S. would show them the truth that you are showing them. I thought that because we were talking about the H.S. in particular that any ministry of the H.S. to her might be noticed more by her. The Word of God does not return to Him void. I have not seen them in two weeks like I said but when they were walking to their car I could not help but smile thinking that they might be saying something like, I don't think that we gave a very good or thorough witness. funny stuff. But seriously, It breaks my heart to see people, that actually WANT to know God, that are soooo far away from Jesus.

I hope myelaine won't be upset if I disagree with her. I think any attempt to battle with scripture and doctrine is doomed to fail. Why? Because ultimately JWs believe whatever and however the Watch Tower Society tells them. Even if a scripture is plain as plain can be, and they are unable to answer you in your home, they will shrug it off the second they get in their car. After all, surely God's Channel has a better understanding than some mere member of Christendom! ;)

Perhaps you could cut off the giant at the knees: ask them about the history of JWs. Try referring to it as "Watchtowerism" since the name Watchtower has been consistent througout their history, longer than JWs. This should unsettle them a bit.

When they explain about a "group of bible students in 1870s who were searching for true worship" pretend to be confused and tell them you didn't know JWs started as Mormons (the Joseph Smith/Mormon has some parallels to Watchtowerism).

Ask them who was the "Organization" before Russell founded Watch Tower Society?

Ask them who was the channel /Org during the Middle Ages?

Ask them who was the channel/Org during the 3rd century, when the Catholic Church was deciding which books were to be included in the Bible?

Ask them if there are any biblical examples of Jahoobee stopping using his chosen Organization (ie the Ancient Jews fell out of favour, so the story goes). Ask them if it is possible for god to stop using an organization he may be using today (i.e. the bOrg). Ask them if false prophecy delivered by the channel is sufficient grounds to lose favour with Jahoobee.

Ask them any question which goes to the heart of the matter: Watch Tower Society is not and can not be God's channel

Of course, you could simply throw a dart at my collection of Watchtower Quotes and pick any topic you land on, in case you get stuck. But I suspect you, Brother Zev, will not get stuck!

    Quotes,

I hope I didn't imply that I argued. I didn't. You do seem to touch on some subjects that would either confuse people that didn't know what you were talking about or send others running for the door, perhaps because of your rather aggressive "style". Has this approach worked for you?

p.s. I'm not upset if you disagree with me.

    Hey, myelaine,

No, no offence taken, and I hope none give! ;) I merely wanted to offer my opinion which is a rather different tactical approach than yours, but don't want to offend you. That's all, just trying to "type with a smile".

Hey, I wonder how Zev is doing, right now?

    they came.

a little old lady and some guy that i didnt recognize. they are from lincoln ri congregation, but i dont know them. i was affiliated with them for my first 21 years of indoctrinal service.

the lady asked for gwen. i said she was called upstairs to help with the babys. she said ok, but she started walking away. she REALLY MADE IT PLAIN SHE DIDNT WANT TO TALK TO ME!.....

so before she got to far i haded her back the brochure she left gwen, and a note gwen left inside. explaining why she would not accept the literature.

i could have done lots. i even offered if i could help her in any way hoping to start a conversation. but she didnt really want to talk to me at all.

    oh well.

i think i'll just hang a sign on the door that say jw's will be (fill in the blank) if they knock on my door again.
