    Reminds me of the "Cat came Back"

    Old Mister Johnson had troubles of his own
    He had a yellow cat which wouldn't leave its home;
    He tried and he tried to give the cat away,
    He gave it to a man goin' far, far away.

    But the cat came back the very next day,
    The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
    But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away.
    Away, away, yea, yea, yea

    The man around the corner swore he'd kill the cat on sight,
    He loaded up his shotgun with nails and dynamite;
    He waited and he waited for the cat to come around,
    Ninety seven pieces of the man is all they found.

    But the cat came back the very next day,
    The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
    But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away.
    Away, away, yea, yea, yea

    theres gotta be something in the TERMS OF SERVICE that forbid bird bashing !!

    i grew up on a farm, so roosters crowing is easily tuned out. but the peacocks franklin mentioned thats another story....

    our neighbors had some..... every morning at 5:30 am when i was a kid, a peacock would roost in a tree outside my window and scream what sounded like " MAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

    blood curdling, "jump out of bed and get out of the house cuz the worlds coming to an end " kind of scream. i never got used to that!

    Just in case...I have a really good chicken soup recipe.

    Did you see the movie "Cold Mountain"? When the character played by Rene Zellwiger (or however you spell it), Ruby, took the rooster and just twisted it's head right off? Yeah...that got rid of that nuisance.

    Wow, guess I should be thankful that no one around here is keeping a peacock!

    I have gotten used to trains before; I suppose tuning out roosters is possible... but... I am dog tired in the meantime!

    I have a feeling my neighbors would be happy to join in the complaint, if there is a bit of resistance to the warning.

    Obviously, I'm going to find out tomorrow morning (about 5:00 am, of course) if this rooster has flown the coop or not.

    We live in the country, and our right-across-the-road neighbors used to have horses and cows. No problem. Actually quite nice to watch.

    Last summer we noticed the horses and cows disappeared and they are now several types of hens and one huge rooster that has free run of the property. And he IS loud! He also starts in at 4:00 AM and goes until whenever he falls into a deep sleep-well after sunrise! We've likened him to the Energizer Bunny---cuz he kees going and going and going......

    It's not too noticable now, with snow on the ground and they are staying in the barn, but as soon as Spring hits---we're up for the serenade, I'm sure!

    I worked nights for years and had to deal with daytime noises, lawnmowers, building, etc... Buy yourself some earplugs and put them in and sleep soundly. They aren't uncomfortable if you get the right kind.

    We have 2 beautiful, huge roosters... and yes, they start crowing around 4.30 in the morning, later in the winter... We live in the country and a morning without the rooster crowing is just not right...
