My darling sister came over Friday night. My husband was at a conference at work on Friday night, and I thought it would be a nice time for my little sister (15 years younger) to come over, hang out, eat some popcorn, and watch a movie. We changed into our jammies, rented "The Village", and piled into my fluffy, decorative pillow ridden bed, to watch the movie. Of course, we chatted as women do.

My sister has a lot of bills right now, so she moved back home with our family <mostly JWs> until she can pay off her debts. She comes over to my house, or to other friends' houses to get away from the stress at home of a family that is crowded into a small space, with three JW's: one terminally ill, one a full time pioneer, the other DF'd, and the other, Dad, who is a Greek Orthodox. She was born and raised JW, but was never baptized, and left the religion when she got out on her own, but is still sympathetic to the religion.

I decided that I would talk to her about the apostofest in Dallas. I talked to her about it, and she said she wanted to see the pics, so I showed her. She said "Country Girl, Mom does not care about your involvement with the apostates, because she already knows that that is a sign of the end coming, and she expects it." HAHHAAHAH... and I thought I was making headway with the JW's in my family! IN fact, I have APOLOGIZED to my Mom for bombarding her in earlier years with information I was learning from the apostates, and she just recognized that as the persecution that would come at the end and doesn't hold it against me. Hehheheh. I asked my sister if she thinks that JWs were the ONLY ones being persecuted. I think she thought they were. But I told her that ALOT of religion all over the Earth were being persecuted, and JWs aren't the only ones, and that if that was the sign they were looking for, they were clearly in the wrong.

Well, she didn't know what to say to that.

All I am glad of is that Mom doesn't hold a grudge against me, and can put my behavior down to listening to the "apostates" and not down to my self. She can't put it down to "persecution as dictated by God" because I already know that several religions around the world are persecuted, hers not being the FIRST. The thing that really sticks out with me is that we always were taught that we would be persecuted because we are the true sect. Well, LOTS of religions have been persecuted, and so have lots of corporations. I was watching CNBC's presentation on WAL MART last night.. and it looked just like a CULT... or AMWAY.. it's all the same thing: people being intimidated, led, pursued, etc. to believe in a certain philosophy without being able to think for themselves. WalMart has bad press, and well it should. It needs to redesign it's employer/employee relations and make all employees equal. They just lost a 7.5 million dollar suit to a guy that ws disabled. And there is a class action suit pending, and another 50 or so suits so that they don't bring their stores into local areas. EVERYONE'S getting persecuted, not just the JWs....

If they rely on that scripture that God's people will be "persecuted" .. well .. who do they look at first? Them, Christians, or employees of WalMart?

To bad you couldn't draw a parallel between "The Village" and "The Organization". I so thought the whole mentality of that movie wreaked of JW logic.

We could start with the jews - 6,000,000 dead by one mean dictator in Germany.

    Or the kurds in Iraq.

The Mormons when the walk down the street.

Yeah definitely. I thought the same thing. I figured the whole movie out in the first 20 minutes. I told my wife (who I am trying to help see the truth about the "Truth") "I bet the 'elders' in the village made up the whole monster thing to keep their followers from going out into 'the world'." And I made quotation marks with my fingers like Dr. Evil when he said, "Laser". And sure enough, that's what it was.

Gotcha. Thanks. Just needed some direction. -ithinkisee

In line with Jeannie's comment, just resurrecting an unpopular thread:

Actually, that is why I chose the movie "the Village." It has "elders" in it... and people living under a certain doctrine, not free to think for themselves out of fear. This was all very calculated. I told my sister that I was very interested in the Amish people, and the culture of cults. She was interested in it, too. I just told her "Sister, just watch. You'll notice particular themes which which you are familiar." I kept telling her that this movie was really intersting because it seemed like Amish people.. and I kept building on the Amish theme. I *am* on an Amish board, and the Amish are not so different from other cults.. so I approach it on that level. I was just trying to acquaint her with the culture of cults.

She then told me some things which lead me to believ that she is not that naive.. and we began to really talk about it. We talked all night and til 1 p.m. the next day. We got a lot of things said, and a lot of things understood. What I find is funny is that my Mother says that MY apotate activity is no big threat because the Bible says it will happen, and that the end will come. It seems wierd because she is just ACCEPTING that I am supposed to do this..hehehe.. and I am trying to get her out of her wierd world... no PERSECUTING.. but she doesn't understand that I am trying to get her out, and she is trying to get ME OUT... it's so weird..

All christian denominations in the Sudan.

Christian denominations around the world for the past 60 years by the WTBTS and the non christian Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses as evidenced in their WatchTower magazines. Yet, the christian denominations mostly do not reciprocate in kind to the JW's.

Since the first century, Satan has persecuted christians. One of the first acts he performed was the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of them by the Roman government which is documented in Fox's Book of Martyrs.

By that time he had infiltrated the church with power hungry 'wolves' who opressed and ruled over the individual christians with terror and fear tactics (sound familiar?). He also divided the protesters in the 14th and 15th centuries into the different denominations we see today.

However, one faith remained intact among christians... Faith in Jesus and His sacrifice. This one faith (Jesus) is very foreign to all cults including the Jehovah's Witnesses' voice of God... the Governing Body.

Don't feel bad CG. Often times I think perhaps my family wonders if Gumbys isn't correct in leaving the dubs.. but maybe I'm fooling myself. There's too much crap going on in the world to solidify there already existing beliefs. Much more will soon happen with the organisation that will boost them even more as far as them thinking they were right that the governments will turn on them.

Cults have always cried persecution......much more than ordinary christianity does. After all, cults believe they are gods buddies only..... and everyone else is on the 'other side'.
