We've often had the scripture "the little one will become a thousand, small one a mighty nation" applied to the modern-day organization...........often represented as an amazing fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

Actually anything with a growth rate will increase exponentially in time. (It's easy to figure out with natural logarithms)

Looking back at some previous years, there was some exceptional growth, resulting in large increases every ten years or less.

Example- with a growth rate of 10% per year the total would double in about 7 years...(log 2/ .10 = .693)

With the current rate of 2% , the number of Witnesses worldwide will be doubled in (log 2/ .02= 34.65) almost 35 years.

Years ago there were some amazing rates achieved (ex. over 13% in 1975), but I doubt that will happen again.

Looking ahead, if the growth rate remains approx. the same, there should be in 20 years roughly ..........

    6,500,000 * (1+.02/1)20 = 6,500,000 * 1.48 = 9,620,000

Of course, only time will tell what will happen..........if trends continue there could very well be negative growth in a few years, like what is happening in many countries, and maybe the 7,000,000 mark will never be achieved.

    Good reasoning and well calculated

Basically, they are barely following the world's population increase.

    No miracle there.

I think they will reach the 7,000,000 mark - but it will all be "growth' in Spanish/Portugese and Eastern Europe - however if China allows the Internet to all its citizens I doubt the WTBTS wil lsee the anticipated growth there either - I think the prospects for growth in Europe/Japan and USA/Canad/Australia are extremely limited

A simple rule is the rule of 72. Take a growth rate and divide into 72. For example, a 7 per cent increase would take ten years to double, 72/7. My opinion is that the JWs will not grow 20 years from now. They will be on the decline.

I'm hoping for a negative growth of at least the number of family members that the org has that we wish them to release. A couple more prohesies that fly like a crow bar might help...

How many "real" or "genuine" JWs will there be in 20 years...not just bogus numbers on paper (time slips).

In twenty years time there will be 3 Jehovah's Witnesses in the world. Armageddon will have come and all the wicked worldy people will have been slaughtered. All the JWs who failed to meet the standard of righteousness will also have been struck down suddenly by the sword (around 7 million of them in 2008) for their unfaithfulness:

sister "lazy" didn't do enough return calls

elder "tries his best" was too lenient on a juducial committee and forgave a filthy sinner

sister "gorgeous" could not resist the come-ons from all those worldly guys

brother "horny" could not stop thinking naughty thoughs about sister "gorgeous"

sister pioneer "thinks she is an elder" kept on falsifying her reports so that she 'got her time in'

brother "prim and proper" kept looking down on sister pioneer "thinks she is an elder" because he knew she lied on her report

elder "stutters during talks" refused a priviledge from Jehovah to become a travelling overseer

sister "old faithful" went to every meeting for 55 years, but failed to confess her fornication when she teenager

brother "window-cleaner" has been sneakily playing the lottery for years to get out of his dead end job

single sister "lots of kids to bring up on my own with no help from the brothers" did not interfere when she realised that her son had sneaked off to a birthday party

brother "no friends in the congregation" went out with worldly friends from work and smoked the odd cigarette

So basically there will only be two survivors after Armageddon in 2008: elder "perfect" and sister "my elder husband is perfect" who have only been in the truth for 3 years and have not yet managed to perform any unpardonable sin yet and are going to show all the old timers how it is really done. So gleeful will they be that they are the only suvivors in Jehovah's fear inspiring and great day that they will celebrate by making a child in their own image, despite the fact that she looks as old a Sarah when she had Isaac. Jehovah was going to resurrect all those he rememered, but when he saw how wonderful elder "perfect" and his wife were he forgot all about them old princes

So that is how it came about that there are only 3 Jehovah's Witnesses in 20 years time.
