Does God make you better off financially for putting him first?

I know sincere elders whose personal lives suck, big time. No health care, no pension, no prospects of change.

I guess none of these folks ever heard of the book of Job? Sheesh!

    Not true at all.

God has nothing to do with anybody's financial standing, or health, etc., etc., etc.

The only wealthy JWs that I knew were shady, unethical and sometimes downright dishonest. So Jehovah rewarded them for their dishonesty and allowed the hard working honest JWs to struggle to make ends meet? Yea, right.

Oh, and another thing, that elder doesn't know what he's talking about and needs somebody to put him in his place.

I've noticed that all the elders in the congregation are doing well financially, because they put Jehovah first.

Hmmm...that must be why my underground drug ring worked so well. Thanks God!

In the case of me and my husband, i would answer no.

We tried the best we could to put him first when we went to the meetings. We went so far as to sell things to go to assemblies etc.......and stuff like that......did he make us better off financially or bless us in some way?

    NO!!

A friend of mine told me that an elder said to him, "I've noticed that all the elders in the congregation are doing well financially, because they put Jehovah first.

ROFLMAO! ..... That's the funniest thing I've read all day. Now we all know that liars and connivers are the ones who control billion dollar publishing empires.

When my sister moved back home after she encountered some financial difficulties, she found that my parents' room had become just overloaded with books, papers, fabrics that had been purchased, but not used, etc. She said that she told my Mom that she would help her organize and clean out the room. They took eleven loads of just junk out of there. My Mother said that she had been praying for help from Jehovah to get the mess cleaned up, and her prayers were answered when my sister moved home and helped her. Mother was overwhelmed and couldn't function to clean it up herself. Was this an answer from Jehovah? I don't know.. but it seems that if my Mother had just taken a couple of days, got off her fanny and made an effort, she could have cleaned it herself.

I don't think God answers such insignificant requests if one can help themselves, and doesn't. While I do believe in Karma, in the larger sense of the word, I don't believe that if someone has the capability to do something and doesn't do it, that God's going to help them more than the person who has all obstacles in their way, and still tries so hard to make things good.

God helps those that help themselves. If it's in your power, and you want it bad enough, it can be done. Whether it is God's blessing or not, I don't know... but it sure seems that those that really work the hardest get the most done, and are blessed accordingly. Some have better luck than others.
