That, as God's organization on earth, they are the ONE true religion...all of their other teachings and brainwashing is based on getting people to believe this.....
I agree with rwagoner's post also. The one big lie allows all the rest to be believable. -

I have to agree with Talesin- The fact that they try to tell people that they practice "Love amongst themselves" is ludicrous in the extreme. They don't know the meaning of Love.

I think that many that DO leave, leave because they realize there is no special love. Their "love" is conditional.

Just a thought on the reason I picked that ... it's personal and individual, but for me ...
It did the most damage. The thing that has most affected me in life has been trying to comprehend that I am lovable ... just because I am me. That you won't stop loving me because I make a mistake, or I'm cranky, etc. etc.
It's also affected my ability to love others - having no expectations, just loving them as they are. It was very isolating for many years till I realized the problem was with ME, not everyone else. Learning the meaning of love, how to give and RECEIVE, makes all the difference in the world.
