    Hello all:

When I last previously posted, I was in a frenzy of phone calls, activity, and fear. Misinformation was flowing around the globe.

Mom is okay, so far. Sister Faulkner is STILL in ICU, with a broken pelvis, collar bone, ribs, and punctured lung and internal bleeding. The accident was worse that what was first reported on the news. Apparently, it was early in the day, and they were all out on return visits. Sister Faulkner was driving in her Toyota. She was coming out of a parking lot of an apartment complex, which was at the apex of a small hill. Mother told me that she doesn't know if Sister Faulkner gunned it, or if she just didn't see the truck. But a big Dodge dually hit them broadside. The truck spun around and a pedestrian, a young man, was hit that was walking along the road. I still don't know his name or who he was. I still don't know about the other people in the collision. All there is is a photo in the paper on Sunday.

I went to the house the next day, and they had let my Mom out. The reason they let her out is because they had her in there, and she was doing her usual thing of minimizing her pain, and they thought she was okay, so they gave her a pill for pain and released her. She started vomiting and feeling sick so they READMITTED her and then they noticed the swelling on her head. They did a CAT scan, and her head was cracked. My Mother has no insurance. They watched her all night then released her and told her to stay awake for 24 hours. My brother watched and made sure she staywed awake. She has a cracked up knee, and a crack in her skull.

I went over the next day, and I took her down to her own doctor. When I got to her house, the sisters were there and they were advising her on lawyers, etc. Which was good. She has a particularly nice congregation and they all came over, but not really to do anything more than give her advice, while she's just been in this devastating accident. My feeling is that they just stopped by while they were out in field service. They didn't cook, clean, or attend to her needs. Unfortunately, my Mother has a lot on her plate, which isn't fair at her age. She has one son that lives with her that is sick with a terminal disease, and she's the one that takes care of him... she has ANOTHER son that is disfellowshipped that lives with her that has schizophrenia, and she takes care of him, too. My Father is not really concerned with her health, unless he's going to lose her, then it's only because he'll lose her help at his business. The whole thing is tragically sick.

I went over there the day after the accident and cooked two dinners beforehand so that they would at least have dinner for two nights. You would think with all these OTHER people in the house that they could look BEYOND themselves and help their mother, but no. My Dad's a chef, for God's sake, but he can't look beyond himself to help my Mother. I took her to the doctor, and waited there for three hours. If you don't have insurance, it's a long hard wait. I feel sorry for my Mother. She does so much for her family, and for the community, and yet here she is, incapacitated, and my Father is calling up asking when she can go back to work. I am sick with my family's reactions to this accident. I don't know what to think.I wish the Hoovers would help her more.. after all, she gives so much to the congregation.

I couldn't go today, but I'll go tomorrow to take care of her. I must be one sick puppy to feel obligated to do this, but if I didn't do it, no one would. I have been shunned, cussed, everything by these two members of my family that are JW's.. but I didn't see those other JW women over there cooking for her, taking her to the doctors/lawyers, or anything else. My brother called *me* to take her to the doctors, but I couldn't today because of my own health problems. Why didn't he call the JW women? What's wrong with this church??????

I'm glad she's alright, of course. I wonder about the other people in the accident. THe worldly people. There is no news on them.

Oh my God, Country Girl. I've been offline for a while, and just now read this. I remember Sis. Faulkner very well- she was such a nice lady. I will most definitely pray for her. Also for your mom- I'm so sorry she was hurt so badly. I'm glad you're doing what you can to help her- please tell the rest of your family to pitch in as well. If I were closer, I'd go sit with her myself. Hang in there, hon.

I'm really not good at doing get-well-soon thingies, but I am good at praying, and that's something I'll definitely do.

Thank you *so much* for your prayers, wishes, and thoughts. I believe it made a difference. Sister Faulkner, whom I love dearly, is out of ICU, and she is making a slow recovery. My Mother, who was the least injured in the accident, has begun suffering some back, neck and head pain. She has found a lawyer and has begun some really painful, to her, physical therapy. Her nerves are shot. She is a very sensitive person and she has been taken to the emergency room a few times since then with extreme pain and anxiety. She is really scared.

I do want to thank you guys again for whatever thoughts, vibes, prayers you sent her way, because I really do believe they helped. I will print this out and show it to Sister Faulkner. I really think you guys are great in the love and support you give to your fellow JWDers. even praying and sending good vibes to those people in the religion that you don't know.. and are still identified with the religion. It just only goes to show me that we are all in this together! We're all people.. and we all are connected on the great matrix of humanity.

I have appreciated reading all your posts and am awed by your response.

    Thanks so much.

Hi Country Girl - I hope your mom and Sister Faulkner are all right? What is their status? Your mom must be a pretty tough lady!

Prophecor, I'm mesmerized and soothed by that beautiful red sunset photo you posted. Lovely.

    Athene,

I just saw this myself. I am so sorry for what you, your Mom & your Mom's friend and family are going thru. It's a true shame how many innocent people and their families are hurt so badly by someone choosing to drink and drive.

Y'all certainly have my thoughts and prayers, I hope everyone gets the help they need and heal up well.

    Your friend, Rabbit
