Hi Happy Dad, As an ex-elder I am sure you have seen much. What especially bothers me is that there are no programs to help the poor. You may not realize it but the plight of certain single sisters who are middle aged or older is rather bad. Especially the ones who never got an education or a "real job". What really got me is that there is an erroneous belief (which refuses to die) that single women (or men) have no problems. The problem with this fallacy is that if you are single you would be the last one to get help!! After all, people aren't going to help someone they are jealous of and who they think has no problems, are they? LHG

Hopefully all your daily chores won't become as neglected as mine have over the last couple of weeks that I've been perusing the site (newbie too)! We welcome your coming posts. Please try "qualify" any vitriol by being as fair and balanced as you possibly can.
We do all need to vent and rant a little and the board is great for sharing fustrations and observations.

Hi Jack, I don't mean to sound angry but I did feel lied to when they changed the 1914 generation thing in 1995. When I came in they taught that vehemently! They pounded it into our heads. I felt like I got punched in the stomach and had the rug pulled out from under me. And I don't recall ever reading an apology about it. LHG

I didn't mean to sound "lecturish". Just please be careful when you say all of them are or that. I swallowed most of the same stuff (born and raised) and parrotted it back upon requst but that didn't make me a real liar, just duped. What feels like betrayal is more the unthinking (and to some degree unfeeling) among a bunch of old men trying to justify their existence not exercising due care (in my estimation) for those "undere their charge" as FDS.
By all means be indignant, outraged, mad...just be careful what or who you're maligning...that's all.
That said, I would be interested in your reaction and observations of others in your area to the "new light" in 1995. I had already faded away so I'm very curious and I haven't seen a recent thread on the subject.
